we have these huge maps that are fifty percent red. anyone else feel ripped off? it would seem its only the timer stopping us exploring more. imagine an aquisition game where u HAD to call transport coz the next point was 2km's away.
cmon ccp i wana load up my crew and go road trippin.

Or simply delete all that terrain that one wouldn't otherwise be able to visit within the timer and turn it into 2D graphics to save memory space.

The PS3 can't handle it.
CCP even shrunk the maps we did have, and it's still hard on performance.

Won't happen either way. The newer maps are like that. If you fly up in a dropship, you can clearly see where the real terrain ends and the fake terrain begins. Older maps are all legit.

in addition having more than 70% of the map not used is just a waste due to the fact it just drains performance form the overall game by being virtually present. i bet if you depleted that 70% lag would decrease.

I'm pretty sure the unused map space is part of the reason for the lag, too much **** taking up space which could be used to fix bugs.

ccp are almost reaching there data limit for dust (playstation restrictions) thats why they currently are introducing sloppy minimal changes as good changes would take them overboard. doing what u suggest would decrease lag but not sufficiently what they should do is just shut this game down and optimise it( currently the way the game is encoded takes up to much space) and then switch it back on or if they could do it without pressing the big red button then i would much prefer that.
