So thats it, thats a wrap, no more Dust 514 for me. After going through two PS3's in my time of ownership, I now have a PS4 and I can't really justify spending another -ú150 to get one just to play one game really.
Oh the irony of it dying on the 2nd year anniversary.
To give you some history, I have been playing Dust all the way back in the Mordus Legion Trials in 2012. I have watched the game grow, expand and become what it is today. Three years on dust has a special place in my heart as the game that introduced me to the Eve Universe. Indeed my first Eve toon was created to support my Dust toon (oh ho ho ho how that didn't work out).
CCP has learned a lot of lessons from the production of Dust, many of which have gone into Valkyrie which is looking to be an amazing game.
Dust has been and forever will be a key part of my virtual life in New Eden, it was the game that kicked off my relationships with a world of new people. I have been to Iceland, planning to go to Vegas and Eve Down Under at some point and been a part of this massive community. Sadly from now on, Dust will not be a part of that anymore.
I have to give a huge amount of respect to the developers currently working on Dust at the moment, you guys basically took what was a pretty average FPSMMO and turned it into a game with features the players of this game wanted. This is a great achievement and was a massive cliff to climb. So thanks to you for meeting the challenge head on.
Sadly, I am now resided to the fact that I may never log in as Cameron StarGazer ever again. The character that spawned Tiberius StarGazer, a member of the BRAVE Collective, Eve News 24 writer and podcaster. Many people were happy to tell me Dust was **** and no good for anyone, I was proud to prove them wrong in saying that I have become a more loyal customer of CCP and the great universe of New Eden. But a piece of my story in Eve will now forever ben lost to me.
Legion did give me some hope, but I understand there are all sorts of awful legal wrangling that needs to be done at the moment with regards to the IP... I could be wrong, I hope I am. But it seems to me the continuation of Dust has now been swept under the carpet and will never be seen again. CCP Please, prove me wrong!
Until that time, goodbye my Dust Bunnie comrades and enemies, my days of walking on New Edens planets have come to a close. Keep on pounding that Dust. o7
PS - I think I posted this in the wrong general discussion! So reposting it there, soz! |
