As far as suits, weapons, and sp advice goes I'm pretty sure every player knows their own playstyle and what they like. I will say that if you're going for a role that would jumpstart you in PC among other things, your best bet is going to be choosing a scout. It doesn't take as much SP to use a scout and be effective as weapons such as the shotgun, nova-knives, and remotes are fatal to any opponent. Not to mention speed. As long as you use it correctly, you won't destroy your KDR, you'll be an asset to your team, and you can basically have something to do while saving up SP to go into another role. Scout tactics will also be beneficial in any role you are playing in any game.
You need to read the stats and descriptions. SP placement is key. Decide whether or not you want to be a shield tanker or an armor tanker, the pros and cons of your decision and how different modules and weapons will balance out what your using and how you're using it.
DO NOT join just any corporation. I would choose a small corporation to start with either based on your friends or your peers. Then later branch out if you so choose. But DO NOT corp hop.
This game is filled with tryhards and trolls. Players will utilize the DustBoards to research your corporation history since character creation.
If you want to succeed in the game, you have to succeed with the community. You can let your game do the talking for you, or you can know how to choose your words wisely. Or both if you can manage.
For female players: if you chose a female character I would recommend biomassing and changing to male. Don't use a mic.

If you are a guy, I would say that you don't like knowing a girl just stomped you. If you are a female, why do you want to remove the one thing that makes this game different from all the rest. Let the guys know you stomped them. |

Might I add, always have a backup strategy in the case that you run into a stomp. And that backup strategy should NOT be redline sniping. If you want to snipe, the enemy will be much more surprised if you sit on THEIR redline. Last place they check.
It's usually safe to have a scout fit, or an assault with uplinks. If you're getting stomped, find a way to break through the line (usually sneaking through the most out-of-the-way route you can find), KEEP MOVING FORWARD, and once you're a safe distance away, drop your uplink, if you have one.
After this (or first, if you don't have uplinks), find the furthest objective/CRU (preferably CRU, but beware of the scans on them) from the stomping action you can reach, and hack that *****. Because the enemy's attention is on your redline, they likely won't notice they lost a spawn back there, and it'll take a long time for them to react to your team spawning on it. This will also serve as a distraction to take pressure off your redline.
And ABOVE ALL: don't depend your teammates to be even remotely competent. They will find a way to **** up everything and anything you need them to do.

Consider your pre-fit basic suits.
If you're being stomped have a basic suit ready and fit so you can repeatedly deploy it without feeling the loss in your wallet. But don't do this blindly, stop and think, see what you can learn, try ways to get past the line, pair with other players who are still trying to win. You can't take on the proto fits straight up and solo but maybe a few of you can, maybe you can get into an advantageous position. Even one kill can be satisfying.
Think about what the team need; spawns? or AV? Bring it, even a militia forge gun can be deadly.
Last tip; your pre-fit medic has two equipment slots, that doesn't mean you have to deploy it as a medic!!! When you're trying things out or start to skill up and specialise, use the medic and re-fit it with whatever equipment you choose. Try a scanner?
