EVE has a Queue for skill training and is based off of time.
Dust does not.
I propose a "skill tree" of some sort that will allow the Duster to pre-plan a skill set, for example:
I just started the game I go to my character sheet and see I have 24k skill points but I need 130k skill points for the next level of the skill I already own. So I put the skill and level I want to train to in my "tree" and do the same for two more skills. I then go and complete battles and contracts and as I earn the skill points to finish a skill it auto completes the skill with a popup notification at the end of the battle or once you enter the character sheet next. Once they are trained to the pre-determined levels they will drop off the "tree" leaving a slot for another to take its place when you so choose.
One benefit I see would be less time in the character sheet and will allow you to plan your path more clearly as you play.
Thoughts?

i for one support this, it would certainly make things at least a little more organised with regards to player progression, which is never a bad thing |

as discussed in the IRC channel, I think this is a good idea, I think there's some issues to iron out like what happens when you cancel skills (goes to unassigned sp) etc but I think this would definitely be a step in the right direction, a lot of the time I find myself having to go into sp menu just to see how much I have and then into the tree to see if I have enough sp to buy.... most of the time I don't.
I also think it would be cool if it's done like a skill as you earn. so you are earning the bonus of the skill as you progress learning.
for example:
player starts earning shield skill (example) player starts playing game as he earns sp it goes to skill as his sp in skill grows, so does his shield % in game. |

If I understand you right... that's what I propose
if you train the weapons skill in the tree to lvl 3 but currently do not have a lvl as you earn the sp it will auto train to 1 then 2 and the skill will be applied to your dmg output uppon clompletion of each round when skill points are applied. |

i think he actually means if the skill gives a 5% bonus per level it would give you say 1% when trained 20% of the way, 2% @ 40% etc. |

it could be applied during each fight, it doesn't need waiting to end of rounds, player can be given budget within skill. like game will look at players skill tree and pull off the queue, and code can interpret the budget with the players acrued sp in the game, so you're earning as you are killing (kinda like buy as you view on a tv.... but with killing people) so I think it's possible all the way to real time skilling (I guess this is what we're saying?) |

LOL, this whole plan is more complicated. As it stands, we allocate unused points to a skill. Simple. Adding in something akin to Evemon's skill planner would be a lot more helpfull in my mind. Just something to be a reminder of what it is my next skill to train needs to be.

I'm sure down the road they will allow for evemon's usage. |

I proposed this already and I agree: a skill tree like in RPG would be better. Easier to navigate, easier to see what unlock what, easier to plan you evolution.

Don't worry, I just said it for the record; you thread also have much more success than mine and really the only thing I care is that the feedback arrives at CCP ears. |
