Hey there, another fun weapon impressions thread. This time about the scrambler pistol.
(Go here for my ramblings about the Ion Pistol)
Overall impressions: Scrambler pistols suck. Except the breach, which is stunningly mediocre unless you can magically headshot people repeatedly or are fighting a zero tank scout. Also whoever added these things to the marketplace has ADD, because there isnt a full lineup at any meta level aside from advanced, and the proto pistols ALL require proficiency 1 (as opposed to the default weapon requiring no prof and variants requiring 1 like most other weapons).
Variant impressions: Default scrambler Pistol: This thing is fine except for its absurdly low damage.
Breach and Assault Scrambler Pistols: These act pretty much the same aside from fire rate, so I'll lump them together. These weapons also have crap damage output (unless you headshot with the breach, bleh), but they also have a big mechanical problem because the delay between bullets while clicking your trigger is incredibly awkward and makes these guns a chore to use. This is fine for the breach (or it would be if its damage was fixed) but Im not sure why the assault pistol isnt just a full auto, its very clunky to use and it shouldnt be.
Burst Scrambler: The worst of the bunch, however its absolutely hilarious fun to use. The sound and the feel of the thing are joyful and are the kind of things that inspire fauns to frolic in woodland glades. However, its damage is the worst of the lot, its horrible, and this low damage is compounded by the incredibly poor handling on the thing, the reticle jumps out to insane dispersion after only one or two bursts, and even bullets in your first burst have very little chance to land on target, in addition the reticle recovers absurdly slow.
Finale: These weapons blow poop. I used to feel the breach was decent, but even that one is a horrible sidearm after Ive experienced it first hand. They all need increases in damage (body shot damage, headshot modifiers should be changed to retain the same headshot damage), the assault scrambler pistol should in my opinion be made full auto, and the burst needs its dispersion/dispersion recovery dramatically reduced and increased respectively.
Also the tiers need to be made uniform, we need a burst and breach at proto level and I believe a burst and breach (and assault? cant be bothered to look) at standard as well.
Lastly remove requirement for prof 1 for the prototype viziam scrambler pistol.

They do need a bit of a tweak, a lot of the weapons do.
Allow me to ask you this though what is difference between Dust 514 and BF4? I can go on a pistol rampage in BF4, but in Dust it's a lot more difficult without a ton of stuff to support you pistol.
Some may say it's a lack of "skill" but I urge you to try this: Spend a good amount of time playing any of the recent Battlefields or CoDs (I don't like CoD personally) then play Dust. I am willing to bet you will notice a difference in how the game plays, just on how weapons aim alone. |

Don't really care about Battlefield these days, but the reason you cant go on a pistol rampage in dust is because sidearms are balanced to be worse than light weapons overall. You might go on a sidearm rampage in Dust, but it is an outlier or the people you were fighting sucked.
I enjoyed Battlefield 1, 2, 2142, and stopped playing them due to the abusive publisher thats crapping up their development schedules and monetizing them with day one DLCs and crap like that. As much fun as I had with Battlefield, I dont expect Dust to play like them, nor do I want it to. |

It's a lack of skill. I have it maxed out and do very much enjoy killing with it. The Burst ScP and Assault ScP needs to be removed or looked at. The Breach needs a buff. |

Well that would be because the ScP's were nerfed to the ground long time ago. The assault and burst versions were the most popular, you would see amarr scouts using both of these at the same time. The ScP is a shadow of its former self. Breach is fine though
