I died to a Proto Weapon-Apex Suit setup yesterday and I thought I was just mistaken by what I saw. Today it just happened again and I can assure it is possible. Both times the proto weapon was one you can get from the Loyalty Store; I don't think that matters though. |

Duno why this is shocking. I can do it on a quafe suit with better tank mods.
There's never enough sh**posting going on, so let's add a few more teaspoons of the guy posting after me to the recipie!

To me it is shocking because I have never seen this before and because I have never run a BPO dropsuit (except for the Frontline Assault) so I am not familiar with the fitting capabilities of these suits. |

Their fitting capabilities are less than advanced suits, but they have proto numbers of slots. Currently the adv powergrid module is providing 26 extra PG (waaaaay more than intended and more than proto) and cpu mods are really good too. People are exploiting the crap out of their new 'bpo suits' because hey, that's the dust community and they'll get nerfed really quick.
I really liked the ability to swap some stuff on my alts opus and get a decent laser using suit for ~7k, or swap some stuff on my mains logi and get a bpo logi with all adv equip.

The problem with fitting proto mods or weapons on an APEX suit is that you have to give up two slots-worth of good mods in return. The CPU/PG availability is also half that of their ISK equivalents so they are still gimped if you so much as try to squeeze in any more than one ADV item into that suit.

Modified a couple of APEX yesterday, and with max engineering and electronics skill it's a problem. Have not tried them yet, but they are far better than the basic suite with small ISK cost.

I wonder how much more damage does a Creodron Shotgun do than the STD one. The stats say two, but that must be per pellet. Either way, I sick with the STD weapons on APEX. Modules > weapons |

Almost all proto weapons are 10% better than their basic variants, only AV weapons and grenades are the real exceptions. So yeah, the damage on the shotgun is per pellet.

The reason they were using LP weapons (I'm assuming "specialist" variants) was that APEX suits do not have the PG/CPU to support a proto weapon without sacrificing a module or two. With a specialist LP weapon, fewer sacrifices need to be made to make a workable fitting. |

the cal assault apex suit can get 464 shield hp, 61 shield hp/s, 2.33 shield delay. I can fit a std magsec, and if i use compact nanohives i can fit a adv rail rifle.
that last part is key.... the reason youre seeing proto weapons on the suits is because the specialist weapons from the loyality store all have adv weapon fitting requirements.
the meta level of the suit is 48, and it costs 30k and 215 LP
the suit, after skills, offers performance similar to an adv suit, but much cheaper. You also get a proto weapon. |

ha! did you see how long it took them to fix the melee damage mods? yea... itll be another month before they touch anything so they can gather evidence that they broke something. |

i think two things should be done, firstly meta lock the moudules & weapons to 0 & 1, and secondly this may be a little controversial, but i say do not allow weapons to be changed |
