I would like to introduce the idea of Modified class dropsuit modules, which would introduce a great new boom in dropsuit customizability.
The basic idea is that a Modified dropsuit module would take the opposite module slot as the original, but with slightly higher cpu/pg requirements, and depending on balancing issues, slightly lower performance. The process of creating these Modified modules would be complicated so only basic and advanced level modules could be reproduced as modified versions, complex would not be able to be created. (Or if you do like this idea, CCP Rattatai, another thing would be to just consider only the basic version of the module for balance reasons)
These new Modified modules would be introduced using the same skill book as the main branch of modules, but would have different requirements.
The progression would look something like this. Level 1 basic module Level 2 basic Modified module (or nothing new unlocked at this level if you only want to allow up to basic) Level 3 advanced module Level 4 advanced Modified module (or the basic Modified module if you only want to allow up to basic) Level 5 prototype module
The cost in increased cpu/pg I think could be comparable to the cost of militia modules compared to their basic counterpart,or perhaps slightly greater.
So for instance we'd see Modified basic shield extender as the most expensive of this 'tier', then militia shield extender, then basic shield extender.
Isk cost could be greater than normal as well.
All stacking penalties would accumulate between all types of modules, as example you had 2 kinetic catalyzers and 2 modified kinetic catalyzers equipped, you'd have the stacking penalty expected from having 4 total kincats equipped.
I really cant see any downside to allowing this, with stacking penalties applying, a slightly higher cpu/pg cost, and at most either basic or advanced modules being able to be equipped, I can only see this allowing for more viable builds and playstyles for those times when you wish you had 8 high/low slots instead of 5/3, or whatever mix you want! |

Instead of making these available on the general market maybe they could be in the LP store. Also, bump. |

well i wouldnt equate low or high slot modules to hats or shoes. Its more like I see no reason other than arbitrary game design why these couldnt go into either high or low slots, I'd prefer dropsuits to have just module slots and have no distinction between low or high and just have the cpu/pg of the specific suits be different so that it would tilt you towards either more pg or more cpu intensive modules. |
