I've been playing eve for a while now and within the last month i have started doing PI, im making about 600m-900m a month doing it and i was just thinking this would be a great thing to add to dust.
Although in eve you have to fly around and drop your resources from planet to planet, but maybe for dust it will just take a certain amount of time to transport the goods.
This is my production planet http://i.imgur.com/B9Pxpjt.png and it is a good way to make passive isk.
I just thought a sort of mini game like this would make it abit more interesting and once you have built the produce you sell it to the computer for a certain price.
Aslong as you maintain it you can keep making isk.
just an idea.

The original plan was to let Dusties fight for PI installations in Eve... so that it's not passive income anymore.

Eh... Planetary Interaction in Eve Online is an ISK Faucet that requires you to move your harvesters around every so often. While mildly irritating, given how tedious it is, there is absolutely no risk to the income source. Which I'm fine with but the amount of ISK generated would have to be so small that it'd be an afterthought.
Unless of course you tied it to PC and made it so that generating ISK through districts, in this manner, could potentially be lost to another party.

like i said i make 600-900 in dust terms thats 60-90 and that isnt alot but it will keep you running.
also if you had to get online everyday to empty your storage this would make the passive isk a little harder, abit like the warbarge but purly for isk. but maybe you can get the research labs to make suits and weapons (not officer)
i just thought it'll be a good idea
Ive always said i would prefer to get a proto pik axe and mine for isk lol, the low risk is better to make isk

Right, but getting people to log in and collect bacon was never the problem - it was getting them to log in and be active in battles

There were even a few illustrations of this that some people made.
So now we have Planetary Conquest.
