i have read a lot about players wanting a penalty of some kind for players that leave battles/break contracts, that all good but then I also want contract info.
I want the contract to tell me the condition of the battle I'm about to enter and I want the option to say no thx and take another contract.
Contract info: 5 vs 15 proto stomp. No thx next. Contract info: battle has about 2 min. Left and your team is redlined. Hell No next. Contract info: blue team 10 newb ransoms vs red team 2 Q sink proto squads from the same corp/ally. No thx next. Contract info: 16 vs16 fair fight starting in 30 sec. Ooohhh YES PLEASE GO GO GO =ƒÿÿ
I would also like to some kind of extra payment for accepting a sh!tty contract if we should choose to do so.
Then you may punish players for leaving, then i will be all for it.
Most players would say no to those sh!tty battles/contracts if they could, THATS WHY THEY LEAVE. |

Agreed.
Penalties for leaving aren't justified unless you chose to accept a contract with full understanding of the battle conditions.
Penalties are an obtuse idea when dealing with this scotty nonsense. |

Lol, I havent played dust much lately, but what Ive seen is that people doesnt leave battle by choice, they do so because their squadmates didnt get pulled into battle with them, so they leave to pick em up.
Anyway, its CCP and not the community`s fault that their game doesnt work.

Why would anyone even hesitate to leave a poorly matched battle? The payout isn't worth the wasted time if its not a fun match. Close games, win or lose, are fun games. Leaving a poorly matched battle to try to get into a better one makes perfect sense.
The problem isn't people leaving battle; the problem is people staying in poorly matched battles instead of getting back into the queue, leaving the proto-stompers in those poorly matched battles to collect their payout while having LAV races, because they don't have anyone to shoot.
If more people left battles more quickly, we'd have a larger population available to queue into better matches. This would also provide CCP Whoever with better data to understand when the current match making system is unsatisfactory. Sticking it out conceals that dissatisfaction from CCP.

So, a honest question for all those who say "it's OK to leave the match if it's poorly matched".
On what basis do you make this claim? Just speaking for myself of course; unless I play until the end I won't know what will happen. I have been in matches which looked very grim, but we managed to come around at the last minute. If people just assuming the battle is lost and leave, you are in fact fullfilling a self proclaimed prophesy by screwing the rest of the team.
Additional questions: - Do you leave as soon as you see a full squad of a known corp? - Do you leave when things get tough? - Do you leave when you died x number of times? - Do you leave because of a sertain map you don't like? - Do you leave because of a squad member didn't join? |

Players need a big enough incentive to enter a battle. The closer to being over or the more people that have dropped would mean bigger rewards.

I think there should be some sort of 'honor rating' attached to mercs.
You would lose honor for things like Team Killing, Team Damage, Leaving battle early.
Gain honor by consecutively finishing matches.

Edit: I forgot to say this: I personally never leave battles no matter how bad it is, i do the best I can or try to troll around and have a little fun =ƒÿÿ The only things that make me leave is when i have HUGE lags and hit detection problems and the game is unplayable.
Basically you're saying "I want to make an already bad situation even worse for everyone involved."
Nope not gonna happen.
Why do all of those contract problems happen? People like YOU leave the game early. Seriously, think about it. Why do you enter a match at the end? someone left. Why is it unequal sides? most of the time a lot of people left. And the groups? Mayhaps you should look at the squads again. You don't have to be in the same corp to be a coherent team, but alas, some people are so stupid, the thought never comes up.
I mean seriously. You want to cause an event to happen, that you don't like the results of, yet you complain about the results, and want the event to happen.
Either make up your mind, or accept match punishments for leaving.
The fewer the dissenters in a battle there are, the more stable the games will become.

I like it but players will be picky with these contracts instead declining unless games are almost full or the red team is getting stomped
contracts should be agreed upon by giving a bonus amount of isk which is doubled or a salvage reward hell a decrypt key if the team is going against a almost full player match
a win or loss and you will still be payed for joining in on the assistance for the contract and evening the odds
but of course there have to be a penalty if you leave quickly after join you will recieve less and less contracts per day and could ban you from contracts for a week if you continue to do it
a cool down will be in place like LOL or any moba after you rq a match

Anyway, its CCP and not the community`s fault that their game doesnt work. Yeah, that's a convenient excuse. However most of the time people leave it's a couple of minutes into the match and it's clear their team is going to get stomped. Can't say I blame them, I hate wasting my time on those matches too; and honestly, I'd rather people leave a match than sit there jacking off and/or fcking with their team.

- Do you leave because of a certain map you don't like? Yes, rarely, but I left that train map and the tower one (I think it's fracture road) a few times as they are both annoying in their own way.
- Do you leave because of a squad member didn't join? Yep, this happens a lot.
The main thing is: if I dont have fun, or get bored playing, I leave. I'm playing to have fun. That's it ^^
Fix the game before trying to add anything else.

I rarely leave matches, but I am of the opinion that nobody should have to justify why they left a match, nor be penalized for leaving.
LAG alone is a good reason to leave any match. What if they have to go to work? Or have real life demands? What if they think that their team is beyond help?
People leave a match when they stop having fun, when they feel that the odds are unfair, etc. If their team mates feel hopeless after the team size has dwindled, then they have the choice to leave the battle too, or stand and fight, or wait around in the MCC for the match to end. |

Thanks for answering So, I guess the follow up question is: How can we make games that are one-sided fun? - Perhaps the portals in the Acadamy could help? (To make it easier to break out) - WP based on relative Meta levels? (I.e kill a proto suite in a militia = 100WP instead of 50WP) - Bonuses for sticking with it, like increased payout if not leaving games?
Personally, with the latest matchmaking fix I get very few games which are total stomps either way. The games that DO become stomps are usually because one team is reduced due to players leaving
Let's help CCP come up with ways that make players want to stay...

No, No, No, No, and Yes. My post directly above yours explained why is ok to leave a poorly matched battle. You can easily recognize a poorly matched battle, because its not just one squad queue synched against you, its the same 8 or 9+ people that just stomped you in the prior match. If you stay til the end, guess who the matchmaking system is going to line you up against, again, because your battles ended at the same time?
Sticking around in a match like that, just isn't the smart thing to do.

How about making the hard battles pay out more?
Contract info: 5 vs 15 proto stomp, 3x isk payout at end of match Contract info: battle has about 2 min. Left and your team is redlined. 2x isk payout and 2x sp at end of match, no wp minimum for sp.

Like I said earlier i only leave when the game is unplayable do to lag/hit detection.
I'm a closed beta vet and i played Eve for about 8 years, i have the ISK and the SP to fool around no matter how bad the battle is so I really don't give a sh!t about who i play against or if it's unfair or not.
I do however understand why some players choose to leave, or put it in another way, they choose not to go in the moment they join and leave at once.
I don't understand that they leave just because they are loosing/dying, that sucks. I don't understand that they leave just because they see the name of a player/Corp or whatever.
And i hate the extreme one sided battles where everyone starts to hide or leave, that is so boring mo matter what side I'm on, but I don't leave. |

Dust population is too low for punishments for leaving the battle.
I know what it means. I'm leaving every already started game [half way through]. I don't leave because of stomps cuz i have enough ISK, SP and personal skill to do what i want no matter what.
I also know why people are leaving. They don't enjoy stompings, unfair battles, lagging fotm chasers etc.
You can't punish them for system issues. For poor matchmaking caused by not good enough system and low population [mostly because of population. You can't have well working MM without enough large population to work with]
TL:DR - In Dust, any sort of punishme for leaving the battle will be bad cuz you can't prevent unfair and uneven matches.

Again with the "protostomp" nonsense. If you want casual play, then maybe a competitive PVP game isnt for you. And its not an excuse, but a fact that scotty is completely incompetent. I get it, people leave battle for various reasons and maybe one of them is being scared of getting stomped, but a carrot is better than a stick. Higher isk rewards for completing or winning pubmatches would be far better than to punish them for leaving, especially in a dying game like dust.

Leaving a match is fine when Scotty screws over your squad and leaves someone out.
Leaving a match is fine when someone in your squad tries to close their messages and hits circle too many times canceling out. (Things happen)
Leaving a match because you joined when it was far past over is okay. (This is why I think passive MCC damage should be removed)
Leaving a match because someone on the other side kills you a lot is NOT okay.
To your extra questions:
No
Heck No
Anyone that does is stupid as you have just thrown away your chance to get a little of that ISK back.
LOL train map. Once I have played it 3 - 4 times in a session I usually leave unless I can tell it is actually going to be a fun fight.
