Blue and newberries, if you want to have success in this game as a solo player--minimal deaths, decent amount of kills and assists, WP scores to be proud of, etc.--follow these steps.
1. If in a medium or heavy suit, stay and follow a group of other bluedots. Don't wander around on your own unless you are a Scout with proper dampening skills and modules.
2. Stay in the middle of your groups. Let the frontliners/vets take the initial aggro from the reds and support them with extra fire. Be aware of your flanks and keep on eye out for any bluedots that might disappear from your sides or back.
3. Do not focus on chasing down enemies to gain kills. It's best to let them come to you.
4. If you are caught off guard and are left alone against the enemy, run towards your bluedots.
5. Uplinks. Always have them. Do not worry about nanohives because you're probably not good enough to make use of them anyway. You'll most likely die before you have the chance to empty out your weapon.
6. If your other bluedots don't want to fight, don't lead the charge. You're just going to waste clones. Be defensive and pick your targets. You can still be an effective player even if redlined.
7. If you're a new Scout, don't attempt to SG/RE suicide your way into groups of reds just yet. Your main focus should be to place uplinks, kill stragglers, and hack installations. Combat efficiency is something you gradually work towards.
8. If you're a new Heavy, don't make it hard on yourself by trying to cross distances on foot. Grab a MLT vehicle, preferably a Gorgon with an MCRU and scanner.
9. Use Flux grenades. Destroying vehicles with AV nades or infantry with Locus nades may sound appealing, but Fluxes are far more useful to the rest of your team.
10. Even if you're solo, be a team player. Don't wait for that bluedot to soften up that red only to watch him die just so you can get an easy kill. Help him out.
These are general common sense tips, but the amount of players who don't follow them greatly outweighs those that do. Play smart. Play defenseively, and most importantly, play to be successful. Fun can come later when everyone isn't trying so hard. |

Good tips, but they should be common knowledge. Unless you are that solo sniper dude, or the solo proto triple hardened tank |

Step 1.1 embrace death. It's going to happen a lot.
Step 2.1 if it moves, kill it.
Step 3.1 if you're under fire, keep the enemy squad interested in killing you if you have friendlies on the flank.
Step 4.1 if you see a friendly squad engaged with enemies, flank the enemy and shoot them at a 90 degree angle if possible. It confuses people more than being shot In the back and exposes you to less friendly fire if you aren't pubbing.
Step 5.1 have multiple fits loaded. If the bads are running amarr lasers load something with a combat rifle. IF there's a fatty with an HMG chasing people around, rail rifles are your best friend.
Step 6.1 die to random scout.
Step 7.1 retaliate with mass driver
Step 8.1 AV is everyone's responsibility. If you can rock competent AV it should be viewed as an opportunity, not an inconvenience.
Step 9.1 skill into some form of AV you incompetent plebe.
Step 10.1 Get scammed in trade chat and realize that you have actually joined the comunity and are no longer a wet-behind-the-ears newbro.
Step 11.1 plot your horrible revenge
Step 12.1 quit playing and join 514umwar for its superior gameplay and interface.

You pretty much just have to get Amarr Logistics to 3+, carry multiple sets of links and you'll make a killing solo.
Reality is the original Rorschach.
Verily! So much for all that.

Unless you are that solo sniper dude, or the solo proto triple hardened tank As I had stated, they are quite common sense tips, but you know how blueberries and common sense don't mesh together well. If anything, think of my list as a reminder, because in the heat of battle, even vets sometimes lose focus and become nothing but mindless vengeful blueberries who just want to charge in and shoot stuff. |

Good stuff OP.
My personal to top priorities for people who are struggling to play alone:
1. Get used to a defensive stance. It may not be what you're used to, but stick with people and don't be the hero. Solo heroes die often and kill few in this game.
2. If you find yourself alone frequently (it happens), consider using uplinks (preferably advanced ones) to summon blueberries to aid you. The blueberries you summon may not bend to your will, but if you stick close to them they will catch bullets for you.
3. If uplinks aren't your thing, consider using an advanced active scanner - this stops you from walking into groups of enemies without prior notice. |
