The graphics I'm seeing in the trailers are way better than the beta. It doesn't run all that smooth either. I'm getting frame rate spurts when inside buildings for the first time (particularly near node B on the most popular map... forget the name). Am I in a in some low graphics mode or is this intended design? I'm using an older PS3, if that makes a difference. |

I'm pretty sure some the graphics in the trailers are rendered video, but also they might be sampling from a development version. Usually the release version and the version the dev team are working on are different sometimes vastly.
The other question would be are you using HDMI cables or the RCA cable connection?

If it really is pre-rendered, that would be pretty disappointing.
I'm using HDMI cables. |

Good, RCA can't do full HD. I watched the new E3 Trailer today. I know a good portion of it was pre-rendered with some actual game play sequences in it. The gameplay doesn't happen until about 1 minute in. Now this doesn't mean this isn't dev release with updated Textures :)
dust only runs at 720, I'm assuming they'll have 1080p ready for launch |

We're in the beta, you should know that there are going to be terrible graphics and a lot of bugs. |

It looks like a hybrid of a later build and adding enhancements to recorded gameplay. What, you think companies never photosop the images on the package?!? They do the same stuff to video. |

To your point about the game stuttering I can confirm it and it does appear to be a problem with the older PS3s. My brother-in-law and I both got in last weekend and we were able to play side by side. My PS3, launch 20gig PS3 without Wifi, would stutter and have other lag like issues. His did not have those problems, he is using a much newer PS3 slim. He was running 480p on a second TV so he had the already reported problems with that video setting. It was pretty convincing to me and him that we both needed to buy a new PS3 slim, he was borrowing the slim. |

I'm running the game prefectly fine on the first Gen PS3. at 720 not 480. It sounds to me he is using RCA cable which is limited to 480 |

Jerec Suron wrote:dust only runs at 720, I'm assuming they'll have 1080p ready for launch Well, i don't think so. Many ps3 games runs at 720p, and i simply don't think the ps3 got the power to run 1080p without problems. I'm pretty sure that all the textures are heavily compressed though, because there's no way they would looks as bad as they otherwise do right now. |

Am I the only one who thinks, that the graphics are quite unsharpened right now? I have to sit quite far away from the display to make the graphics look rather sharp. |

Go watch the E3 trailer, those are high res texture packages. Compare it to the current game play. You'll notice a huge difference. |

As I've said before in another thread complaining about graphics...Yes, there are quite a few others.
Would you rather the game be pretty and full of bugs, or as bug free as possible and not quite as pretty. EVE is amazing when it comes to graphics and I'm sure this game will look as good as it can when it comes time.
Also consider this....when WiS was first shown in EVE, the CQ and even station were shown as the avatar would walk around. Current CQ looks nothing like that. So always keep in mind, what is shown isn't always what we will see.
On a final note. I want some night time battles. |

Hold all graphics complaints until the next big update on the 29th. If it is still a problem, then by all means start complaining again. This is just wasted breath on the forums right now. |

That's good to hear, I was wondering about this. I thought maybe the E3 beta was running on a PC or something. Even the overview map is nothing like the one at E3 and loads choppily. Nicer graphics in the fitting screen too. One thing I laughed at is that every model skates around like they are on ice, no character animations yet. |

What annoys me us people complaining about graphics when the game is 100% free! If you were shelling out $60+ for dust the you have reason to pick at the graphics, but take into account that its a beta purely to test for bugs and to stress test the servers. I have 110% faith in ccp and I'm sure things graphically will improve when the full game is released. I for one am having a blast playing dust. Graphics are not important at the end of the day. I grew up playing c64 and Atari 2600 and the graphics were horrible..........but awesome gameplay, kids today are to spoiled on graphics. Remember the original operation flashpoint from back in 2002/4? That looked like pants but amazing deep gameplay, I still play that to this day. the moral if my reply...........grow the hell up! You're getting a game for free, and a huge deep game at that, be appreciative to ccp for not charging the intended price if $20+ for it. How many games of this caliber are free!? |

You guys are complaining about graphics that are 2 years old....The new build will have better graphics/smoother play etc etc David Read even said at E3 the newer build has new graphics increased performance new weapons and all sorts of stuff =)
Oh and by the way the graphics in the E3 playable versions looked way better than black ops 2 graphics....poor call of duty fans...
Those of you who are joining us because you got keys at E3 or joined as a result of E3 realise you are not playing the build that was at E3, you wont be for another few weeks. |

For the record: wasn't complaining, just asking. Thought maybe I had an older PS3 or was doing it wrong.
Good to hear about a big update on the 29th. Can't wait. |

i too do not think this game will be 1080 as some of the only games that are, are PSN or LBP lol. not alot of action games are 1080 |

the e3 trailer is actual gameplay, it's the build we will be testing soon(tm)
the current beta build uses heavily compressed textures to save on download size |

As others have mentioned, the build that we have right now is still old. The build that you folks saw in the trailer is the new one that is still going through the approval process by Sony and probably won't be available to us until at least the 29th this month. So you best have to wait.
From what I see, the new build is based on our feedback on what we have right now available at the moment. |
