Hi All,
I am really enjoying the game so far and HAVs in particular, just a couple questions:
1. Are there a set of skills that impact my damage / reload etc while riding in someone else's HAV and using the turrets? It appears the turret skills are only for fitting them on your vehicle, but I just want to make sure I am not missing something.
2. Is there a good way to get better with Blaster turrets? I feel like I am fairly competent with rails and missiles but struggle to hit the broad side of a barn with Blasters ( more so the 20gj than the 80 gj but not by much ) I think part of my issue may be related to my third question.
3. Is there a way to change the UI color? Being partially colorblind I really struggle to see the center mark for the cross hair sometimes, ( mostly on blasters where it is so tiny and lightly colored and often blends in with the surroundings to me. )
Thanks for any answers you can provide. |

Its not your fault. Small Blasters are not working as intended.

Colorblind mode is something I'd really like to see. Knew a person who couldn't distinguish between enemies and squadmates.

Thanks for asking Question #1, it's also something I've wondered about but never got around to asking.
-Do the skills apply only to the tank that the user dropped in, and it doesn't matter who's driving it or manning the turrets? -Do the skills apply to whatever you happen to be driving or shooting? -If the second one is true, would differently skilled people in the same tank have different competencies or would a higher skilled guy "boost" the other? |

Hello there, Username AND Steel:
Question #1 always gets repeated around the Forum. It's a very good question, and the answer is good news too.
Skills on the Skilltree that refer to Small Turret Reload Speed, Small Turret Rotation Speeds, (and I BELIEVE with "ammo" capacity too),GǪ ARE applied to BOTH the owner of the vehicle (the driver) and the player who hops on the small turret.
Just as a made-up example: Boox has his small-railgun turret Rotation speed skill raised to Level 5 (giving the small rails on his HAV a 25% faster rotation speed). He meets Celesta in an early match, and let's her use his small turret. He doesn't know it, but Celesta is a regular turret-gun enthusiast, and she has HER small-rail turret Rotation speed skill raised to Level 4 (about 20% faster rotation speed).
So, every time Celesta uses a small RAIL (must be rail) turret on Boox's HAV, the adjusted rotation speed caused by his 25% bonus, gets adjusted AGAIN by her 20% bonus----making a total increase in speed of more than 45%. JACKPOT! To address your questions, Username, if Boox and Celesta hop onto someone else's Dropship, and that Dropship driver hasn't invested any SP into his small turrets at all, having Boox and Celesta on his small rail turrets will give him a simple but useful 20 - 25% rotation speed boost. (If he only has MISSILE turrets on his Dropship, well,GǪ then having Boox and Celesta onboard won't give him the bonus at all, I'm afraid).
So, it's good to socialize with other players, and see if you can gnenerate some friendships with players who are skilled (and SP-SKILLED UP) in categories that can boost the power of your vehicles. A dedicated turret-gunner can be a really cool friend to know.

Thanks Celesta! That's great to hear, I guess I will work on my small turret skills first then as I try to hop into someones HAV crew early in the game and stay as long as we can.

In response to question two I find the secret to accuracy with the Blaster is to feather the trigger as rapidly as possible in short bursts when attempting to target infantry. I also tend to keep the centre of my larger reticule over my target as often as possible since the first few rounds of the Blaster are relatively accurate before dispersion affects them.
Also stacking a Damage Module on your Blaster Tank helps too, not just against enemy HAV, but also because you will need to land fewer shots on your target to kill them.
That being said...... trying to hit anything with a 20gj Blaster is a nightmare. I suggest fitting Small Railguns. They are accurate, powerful, and have more balanced fitting requirements.

I fully agree with you about the Rail-turrets, True Adamance.
Though the downside is I lose so many rail rounds from the vehicle-driver's constant lurching and rolling (of course the poor driver HAS to do that in order to keep us from getting blown up in the poor machine!).
The combination of a dedicated turret gunner with small-turret bonuses, and a seasoned vehicle operator who has the cpu/pg to add a damage mod---and the nerves of steel to hold the vehicle still and invite death long enough to buy the gunner time to bullseye the reds,GǪ is a rare dream team.

I appreciate the tips. Unfortunately I am at the mercy of what people have fit on their HAVs a lot of times. Still in a random corp it put me in at the start so I am mostly just playing instant battles and jumping in the first HAV I can get to and trying to help. I have had some really good drivers, and some not so good ones but honestly I feel like more good than bad so maybe I have just been lucky. I sometimes try to drive my own Hav if noone is around ( mostly in the first few Battle Academy games where it puts you against other new players ) and had great success that did not translate over to playing with the "Big Kids".
Thanks again to you both for your tips. They are proving most helpful. |

If you didn't already know, small blasters were fixed now, and have far more range and better accuracy than they had previously.
The damage still is nothing special, although it can get the job done.
