I've merely been on a concord "sponsored" contract in Amarr space, working security for a holder family. There was a vigorous exchange of ideas, drinks, and surprisingly little fighting for being a security detail. Also, one wedding.

Good to see you all again, and I never said I don't have souvenirs. On to the story!
I'll start at the beginning.
This was during the fallout of the falsified declaration of the end of the clone soldier project in YC 114. I was perturbed by the potential loss of my friends and favorite enemy*coughs*Templar*cough*, to say the least. Participating in anti-concord protests got me picked up and exiled. They decided that due to my social tendencies it would be "educational" for me to spend time amongst the Amarr.
They moved my clones to the premises of a small holder family, they seemed happy to have a "pet clone"
"'Scuse me!? I am not a damned pe-"
The lady of the house pressed a small button and I was on the ground, every fiber of my being on fire.
"Neural shock, dear. They put one in all your clones to make sure you behave while you're in my employ." She said as the button was released.
"Fine. What's the job so I can get back to civilized society?" I said, taking my feet again. Her finger hovered over the button "That is not the proper way to address your superiors. I am Lady Jaynara and you shall address me as such"
"Fine, Lady. What is the damned job?"
"Jaynara" The button was pressed again.
"I SWEAR I AM GOING TO TAKE THAT AND SHOVE IT SO FAR-" Button. I probably deserved that one.
"Lady, Jaynara." I said curtly "What is the job so that I can get off this mudball and back to killing your people for fun and profit?"
"Better." Her eyes narrowed "Still uncouth, but it is to be expected. "The job" is exactly as it was described to you, you are to protect myself and my family. I have reason to believe that a third party is planning something, and that they may be willing to use excessive force."
"So I'm here on a hunch?"
"Yes, and indefinitely, so long as I see fit to keep your contract active."
"What!?"
"You are here until I feel the threat has been resolved, and not one moment before. Any attempts to escape will be handled by Concord and you will be returned here." Making a show of the remote, "As you see, I have ways to compel you to act properly, but I've always believed that willing cooperation is far better than coercing someone" as she pocketed it.
"Now then," She said, Motioning towards the grounds "We should walk, it will allow you to see the area you'll be working in, meet the staff, and the people you'll be watching over. You will be shown to your quarters once we're through."
End of Chapter One.

Some.
Seeing as I was stuck there for a while at the least I decided it would be preferable to pass the time sitting on my ass and ignoring lectures than being tortured, so I joined her on the tour of the grounds which came to a stop very shortly.
"This is the promenade, from here you can see the whole of the city I care for."
A sprawling city was laid out before us, most buildings below 3 stories. A large amount of land was seemingly used for agriculture, and several statues had been erected in prominent points around the city, visible even from this distance. There was very little smoke or smog, indicating a low industrial usage. A single spaceport was visible in the distance.
"Mostly just houses and farms. Are you that worried about rustlers? Or did you just want a clone to trot around?"
She sighed "I'll have you know that we produce almost half the food for 3 jumps in any direction"
Throwing up my hands in a mock show of shock "Oh no. they'll need to scramble for literal minutes to secure food lines. Then again, I don't really need to eat in a combat clone. They don't exactly last long." smirking as I finished
"Well the rest of us mortals do. You have no idea the morale loss of soldiers when they open their rations and they're not right."
"Fine, your turnips are the turnipiest in the entire cluster. May we please continue?"
with visible annoyance, and retrieving the remote again "We shall, but remember who is in charge here" as she strode off.
"Was it the turnips thing? I'm betting it was the turnips thing." as I followed. Jaynara remained silent as we approached the front of the manor, and sounds of a fight.
3 men surrounded 1, the man in the center was tense, in a strict form. The one directly ahead of him charged, and was quickly thrown to the ground, the other two following quickly and being dispatched just as quickly.
"And that would be my son, Djabak." At the name, the man in the center excused himself and walked over.
"Hello, you must be the clone." He said, extending a hand.
"That is correct, and my callsign is Heathen Bastard." I said, reaching shaking his hand by the wrist.
"I would know your name" Not releasing his grip
"Very few people know my name, and most of those are dead." extricating my hand.
"Fine then. Would you like to spar? I've trained under men who trained the Kameiras!" he said, stepping back and getting into his stance again.
I looked over to Jaynara, and she nodded "He could stand just a little humility."
I removed my coat, folding it and putting it neatly on the ground.
"That's adorable. I was in the HEP clone trials, fought on caldari prime as it burned, and was definitely not a black eagle at any point in time." as I assumed my own stance.
"If I beat you, you have to tell me your name, sound fair?" as he stepped towards me.
"Sure. You won't though."
He stepped in very quickly, trying to get inside my guard, right uppercut. Painfully telegraphed. He was definitely learned, but he hadn't trained nearly enough. I stepped in, shoulder ramming him to knock him off balance, then shoving him by his chest with one hand to knock him to the grass.
"And my name stays mine." as I helped him back to his feet.
End of chapter 2.

Heathen you there? Dammit I'm missing like a year's worth of time, a few hundred thousand ISK and have a rather vulgar tattoo involving the CONCORD insignia and a kitten on my leisure clone. The last thing I remember is drinks at the club and then I blacked out. If these clocks are right that was over a year ago making this the longest black out I've ever had.

I don't think it has to do with being a lightweight. After CONCORD announced the next generation of clone mercenaries I kind of just went at the liquor storage. My longest blackout before this one was the week after Caldari Prime. I think it has more to do with the depression than the drinks...

I've clearly been out of the loop. A lot of people retired after CONCORD's announcement. Was there any follow up on that? Looks like some of the fighting may have died down. Or at least the numbers.

eh, maybe, you know us heathens. Always kicking god's door down and laughing off their attempts to put us down. (and then the witcher 3 happened. Need to get at least volume 1 finished before heavensward and I disappear again, sorry.)
Now, where was I...
So, after meeting with her son, I was shown the interior of the home. Place was made with looks in mind, not defense. Huge windows, large open spaces and all the columns were plaster over plastics. front foyer was very nice, with their gold detailing over imported wood floors. Had an overlooking balcony, probably the only tactical advantage in the entire room.
"So, you're super worried about attacks? It shows from the plate glass windows and wood doors."
"I have had enough of your commentary." She said as she flipped a switch on the wall. The room sprang to life, portions of the floor rising up as solid metal walls for cover, shields crackled to life inside and outside of the windows and a small laser turret came out of the seemingly decorative fencing on the foyer's second floor.
"oh..." was all I could muster.
"Feel free to pick your jaw off the floor at any time." She knew she got me on that one. Flipping the switch back, the walls sank back into the floor, completely flush and unnoticeable without the highest scrutiny.
"Why did you think I had you delivered in a leisure clone? I prefer to keep the cards, as they were, close to the vest."
"Point well taken. Now just who do you think is coming after you and yours, Miss Jaynara?"
"Unknown, but there have been rumors swirling that another family has been eying my lands and businesses, and Gallente federation frigates and cruisers have been floating through here more often of late."
"So, political intrigue?"
"Effectively yes. While I doubt it will come to anything more than slanderous accusations and lies, it never hurts to have someone of your history around to... Dissuade potential conflict."
"Ah, then might I be shown to my room? I have to check on my equipment."
With the terms laid out and negotiations concluded for the time being, I was shown to my room. The home was fairly large, and the interior was of typical amarrian design, with some distinctive matari cues like usage of hardwoods and several leather accents.
My room was slightly cramp, probably a re-purposed servants quarter area. My crates of equipment were already offloaded, so I started tearing through the crates. "where are they, where are they?!" "Sir, is something missing?" "My pistols! Hand tuned amarrian scrambler and breach? All leather holsters?"
Producing them from a pack "Lady Jaynara said to deliver them by hand, as they were obviously of import to you."
"Thank you, miss?"
"Neres, short for Neres-Cila Jaynara."
"Well thank you, Miss Neres-Cila Jaynara. Please leave, most people find it odd that I talk to myself when I inspect my gear."
As the door clicked back into place, I began to check through my gear.
End of Volume 1: Induction.

Chapter two: Cloaks and Daggers.
After waiting until all the stuffed shirts were away, I spoke with Miss Jaynara "Really? I'm needed for all the meetings? I almost wished they'd biomassed me instead of putting me here."
"That's still an option. Again, you're here as security, more so as a reminder than a fighter." She'd explained this point to death already. Never hurts to try and pester an ammarian into seeing my viewpoint, eh True?
I made a rolling motion with my hand to keep her talking, the door hadn't closed. These holder types were boring, but nothing if not predictable. every, single, meeting, the last one out closed the door behind them, audibly, a show that the discussion was concluded and they could be shown out by the servants.
Some kid. probably a new servant, looking for a boot to lick. Pinned 'em to the wall.
"You are not supposed to be here. Why are you here?"
With almost practiced meekness She said "I-I'm sorry. One of our guests w-wanted me to deliver this to Lady Jaynara." She held up a letter with a telltale embossing.
"Put her down now."
"Fine"
After sorting that out and sending her on her way "Why did you do that? Almost gave the poor girl a heart attack."
"She started it. Kept the door from closing, coulda been an assassin for all I know."
"She's half my size, wearing my uniform, and tripped over her own feet on the way out the door."
"I could have ten of those uniforms, from ten different manufacturers, with different hidden pockets. within two days. Off the top of my head I could make enough poisons to kill every single person at that boring meeting, untraceable, without repeating one."
"I don't need a lecture. I just need you to do your job."
"I have been. The closest things we've had to security risks were when that farmer's moisture collector broke down, and that last incident."
"Just calm down. You're here for show, If I need a killer, I will tell you."
I heaved a sigh. This was quite possibly the... fifth? worst time of my life. At least when I'm on the wrong end of a fight I can do something. "If you're telling me, then I've screwed up on an incomprehensible scale."
Do think I'll take a break from storytelling for now, just let this next bit do the talking for me. Took 'em a while to decode, even after giving the right frequencies, guess my codes were a bit out of date.
// Intercepted Comms Recording 001
"The target has some very lax security, save her personal bodyguard."
"Your assessment?"
"This will be perfect. There shouldn't even be a fight, but we can certainly make it look like one. aught-seven-one out."
// End Recording
