I'm not a new player, but I am pretty new to vehicles in this current meta. Been skilling dropships mostly and have a hard time fing multiple fits for various situations. I' currently focusing aon armor skills, so the Incubus and Grimsnes are what i fly.
So I'm here asking for any advice on fits for both these dropships. i really enjoy flying a grimsnes with a MCRU, but cant seem to tank it reasonably.
And for the Incubus, I cant figure a way to fit multiple turrets on it :/ I really want a incubus with 3 railguns/blasters.
Any help would be appreciated. |

My name is Cro, this is what you do... Fitting one: Combat ready behemoth
Skill into armor reps so you get the bonus. Run a basic cru, triple complex reps , turrets (preferably AT missles with lvl 2 fitting op) Then a CPU upgrade. Effective against two proto breach forges, can 1v1 officer swarms if flown just right. Only problem is this set up relies on YOUR skill at piloting and your gunners. This isn't a solo running setup...gl all this goes on a grim btw.
Fitting two: The angel
Armor rep this to hell. Armor reps with bonus skills and the fitting op, 4 complex light armor reps, basic cru, scanner, guns op. On a grim. Fly this like its a holy vessel. Either VC in team and fly permaspawn for blueberries or use for your squad, also can be used for extracts for squad members.
!!Warnings!!
You don't get much wps running solo. Blueberries suck. Like it's embarrassing to watch them empty five mags and hit nothing. These are what I fly. The behemoth reps at 297.change and the angel reps 375. Learn to avoid forges pretty well, and always run from swarms, don't chance getting hit by proto then ambushed by three more.
If you want to squad up find Elysium's electorate public and we can run together. Hope this helps.
Cro, pilot, sentinel, scout, logi, best sleep you ever got with a red berry medicine. |

Well i dont have missles yet, but ive seen some some success with rail turrets. this interesting stuff. I will definately try these fits. I noticed you dont use plates. are plates a bad idea. I've also some talk from a few vehicle enthusiasts that the armor composition skiill is broken somehow. Is this true? ive been trying the hardners lately and really like those.
Thx for the advice. |

Plates will slow you too much, what's the point of 10k armor if you can't out rep or out run av?

Hmm...run with me sometimes, Elysium's Electorate public, find me there. We can discuss it easier there, and a scanner is nice but remember..reps and a good weapon are necessities, a scanner is a luxury. |

The key factor here is two reps, a hardener and the AB. Choose a turret and second high slot (scanner or mCRU) to taste. Makes for 310 effective hp/s reps, which is enough to withstand almost any handheld AV.
If you're looking for more passive hp, this would be a suitable starting point. That's 8.8k ehp against railguns (accounting for 3 rep cycles), which requires a damage amped and actively cooled prototype railgun to kill in one volley. Everything else needs to team up on it to score a kill. |

But having almost 5k armor? woah that looks nice |

Those fittings are fairly end-game stuff. I think my pilot character has all relevant vehicle skills maxed for those fittings, except small blaster fitting optimization which is currently at level 4. But the principle "1x hardener + 2x reps + AB" or "1x hardener + 1x 120 mm plate + 1x rep + AB" work across any tier.
I find the AB mostly covers my mobility needs. But take care to never come to a full stop and avoid flying towards or away from common AV-spots. Plan your routes so most AV (handheld or HAV) see you moving across their field of vision - that dramatically increases the likelihood of missed shots so you have an easier time getting away. By the way, if you come under fire, activate the hardener first, then the AB. The hardener helps tank the first 3 shots, the AB helps dodging the fourth.
If you're new to armor vehicles I think it's fully sufficient to leave armor composition at level 3. That'll get you most of the effect. Fitting better hardeners or reps is generally much more worthwhile than the incremental increase in maneuverability you get from the last two levels of armor composition. Later on, especially if you're looking into piloting an Incubus, you should definitely look into maxing out armor composition. But that's for later I guess.
P.S.: Always make sure you take a moment to scan for railtanks once in a while. Even when your gunner is doing something useful, *always* check for railtanks. |

I only recently started skilling into vehicles. I think im about 5m in. im a long ways from the elite fits. I am beginning to learn to only support objective while my hardener is on. as soon it turns off, i run like a chicken
Those railtanks pop me frequently. I definately have a hard time locating them.
and on a side note, when get hit by anything, i feel like the directional hit detector (red bar) is inacurate. anyone else feel this way? |

Dead Cavino wrote:and on a side note, when get hit by anything, i feel like the directional hit detector (red bar) is inacurate. anyone else feel this way? There are two issues with the directional indicator: - If there's an impact the indicator shows where on the DS the impact occurred. It does not indicate where the shot came from. If you are flying forwards (nose down) and a FG hits you from behind at the nose the indicator will show a hit *at* the front - not *from* the rear. In general though a shot from e.g. the left side also impacts on the left side of the DS, so in many cases the indicator works intuitively, but not always. - Blaster hits are for some reason indicated in the inverse direction. Get shot from the left, indicator on the right. 100% reproduceable under all circumstances.
Don't worry to much about being killed by railtanks. They are *the* counter to dropships, so some losses are to be expected.
Send me an ingame message if you want to fly with a buddy. My online times are somewhere around 16-21 UTC. |
