GǪWait.
I have always avoided the "insta-" or "Auto-" or "Smart-" activators and buttons in this game. Why? Because they are attempts by people who clearly are two-tiers above others in interlectual intention and ambitionGǪ to sort of "simplify this for the more primitive user".
Examples:
Dust involves putting together a fitting using a lot of "math". I like the challenge of math so I tended to avoid the "Loadout" and "bundle" fitted suits which are meant to help confused players but still leave them trying to use the loadout/bundles with mistaken purposes.
Dust intends for the NeoCom to be an elaborate UI for players (soon about to be even MORE elaborate). I like that, so I tend to be annoyed by the "instant battle" button which is meant to help confused players short-cut into a match but only leaves many players unaware that they will ONLY be "instant" loaded into Pubs, never FWs or PCs.
So where "restock to" is concernedGǪ I got the impression it was INTENDED to help you when you are in the middle of a match, running low on the fit-out you're currently fighting with, and cheaply-but-QUICKLY need to replenish without losing vital time having to figure the math ("my buddies need me back in the fight NOW, dang it!").
In THAT in-match situation, THE SUIT YOU ARE ALREADY WEARING automatically counts as ONE copy of your fitting---so naturally the "restock to" jumps to TWO or more as your only restocking options. The "restore to" was meant to be used DURING a fight when you're in a hurry.
When I'm in sitting it out in my Merc Quarters, I like the task of having to do my own math, so I seldom try using "restock to" in that situation. It just wasn't devised for your relaxed QUARTERS to be its primary place of use. The Devs (I THINK) sort of expected you'd want to explore your restocking options manually rather than reach for an "insta-- for primitives" button again.
I don't mean for that to sound insulting.
But I think we have to keep in mind--this game REALLY reached high on a thinking-persons level of complexity. The impulse many of us console players have to request "insta--" settings, "easy-mode" competition, and "auto-math" assistance, might cause it to look like CCP is "dumbing down" the game.
And believe me, NOT to many players want that to happen in this game.
