I find it odd that with so few people working on Dust they get more done than the full dust dev team did in 2 years. If player trading was so easy a few guys could put it together like this, why was it not added way back then??? They have added and fixed more and more important things than CCP ever did since launch and Uprising 1.0.
Anyone have answers? Was Player trading a piece from legion they threw in dust? Is all they are adding just salvaged projects from before FF2014???

First, having a giant development team is not necessarily an instant Good Game button. Multiple teams, if poorly managed, can perform worse than one team with a focused goal and good project management.
That isn't a perfect answer to your question, I know. We'll never know exactly what happened during the pre-Rattati era... well maybe CPM0 does but they are bound by the NDA.

What really happend is CCP Rattati came from another universe and ate the orginial dev team then he layed his eggs into his nest under CCP HQ.
From those eggs CCP Frame and CCP AquarHEAD were reborn.
And this is why we don't have a full dev team and why CCP neglects us !

the problem isn't the size of the dev team it's much harder to code even simple looking things then it seems, so for one even if you have a lot of people working on one thing implementing it and making sure it works right without bugs can take much longer
its easier to work off of an already built foundation then to build from scratch, there's a lot of changes that needed to be made in order to implement even simple trading
there's also the issue of resources and many other factors that have to go into the development process

It was probably something to do with the game breaking whenever they tried to update the UI
that and the original idea was to have player trading between EVE as well...but now that we don't care about that link, it can be easily implemented.

The only problem with that is the EVE to Dust conversion rate. Seeing as ISK is a a lot easier to obtain in EVE, they would have to sell it at what we could consider extremely high prices to make a profit if there was no conversion algorithm in place.
Sure people will get smart and have Capsuleers in their corp making suits for them whenever but then it puts Dust only corps or those who don't have alliances with EVE corps in a bad position.
Not to mention, how would a pilot benefit from a small market such as Dust when there are hundreds of other ways of making tons of isk?

At this last fanfest round table he said that the old team was paralyzed by looking at the grandiose things they wanted to do and could make the first step. Very common problem...
Now we see the team taking little bits and doing what they can, such as has been the case with the new HAV racial variants. The old team never would have used existing models with different paint jobs as a first step....
Dust 514, the BEST WORST game you can't stop playing.

CCP's head economist quit after like 10-11 years... They wouldn't have a clue how to merge the two economies without risking EVE's 12 year old economy.. And that despite anything is the heart of the game... The market and it's economy.. Everything drives from that.
Alot of EVE's subscribers purely play the market... buy,sell and trading all day... Almost every economy student hears and does some kind of observation or study on it. |

I'm a coder myself and that's just bull, player trading was very easy to create, its verifying and moving numbers from one entry in a database to another, we've been doing that from launch with ISK transfers. the original team just didn't want us to have trading because there executive directer (aka dumbass) thought it might cause players to stop buying AUR

The guy previously in charge had no clue what he was doing. If you do a FPS game then the people who work on it should have at least some experience with it to even out the common annoying things. Or at least the guy who is overwatching everything should have experience with it. So that he could whack the guys who are working under him everytime they try something stupid. Like tanks that have +50% damage on their hull which stacked with skills, damage mods etc just so you where capable to 1 shot everything in the game. Even a bolas.
I make the scrubs scream and the vets cry.

My point is that in the past, the simple idea was not the one considered. Which means that more than likely, CCP made projects a lot harder for themselves than it needed to be.

There is an elephant in the room of a company that has a product that they are very concerned about. That elephant is the layers of people in positions of power that create filters based on opportunism and job security not to mention good ol' fashion ego.
What we have now is what every game team should beGǪ one layer of a few people simply agreeing on how amazing should a game be. This happened because CCP decided to largely abandon the game and threw it to the peons. The peons took over the castle and rubbed CCP's faces in ****.
Computer programmers and engineers are notorious for worrying about not giving too much up in the name of job security.
Wake up CCP! This is how you will survive. Use DUST as a model. Do this same thing with EVE and future titles and watch your money and support grow!

Most of the project leads either left CCP, got laid off, or went to do other projects within CCP. Some of the older developers are still there and are more than 5-10 people ( unlike some people foolishly believe; it was never that low) . Although there's not that many left. It is no secret that Dust was managed poorly, but they did update the game monthly for 8 + months. Now the updates are usually 1-2 months apart. It looks more focused because they really can't do the big ideas and since they are smaller they need to prioritize.
The game seems to be designed badly from the start, so it really hurt them in the end of the day. |

From my understanding there was still some additional backend stuff needed to make that possible.
