Should the buyer pay for first and then receive the item or should the seller send the item and then receive the money? What's your opinion?
Every trade with me will be money first or no trade.

Money first, I$K is easily replicable, most of the items that will be sold are not.
If you expect the worst, you'll never be disappointed.

Or you just go through a reputable broker - they'll start springing up like weeds, I'm sure. And in the meantime, I'm sure you can both find someone you trust.

I would actually recommend trying to find and use a well vouched third party system.
Item goes to third party, isk goes to third party, item goes from third party to buyer, isk goes from third party to seller. If an incorrect amount is sent, or the item never makes it, the transaction is aborted and isk returned.
The important bit is to find a WELL VOUCHED third party (and to pay them a bit for their time). If the third party scams you mention it on the trade forum, which is also where you should be able to find the vouched third party.
This puts a lot less burden on trusting just a random person... and a bit more on trusting a person who is willing to put their reputation out there.

Chaos! Brushmaster made a system for Dust Lottery, where he can track payments automagically; no reason a similar setup couldn't be made to set up trades, track payment to a central account (Escrow), and verify that items can be transferred. |

I'm not sure, because ISK is tracked by your wallet. Time will tell, knowing CCP they could forget about it (like with experimental weapons lab) ;) |

It should work like any normal mmo, no stupid unpredictable new eden rules. Both parties put their offer in the window, and both parties must accept for the trade to go through. All that janky backstabbing awox crap is dated.

#1 rule, if you never heard of the guy, its a scam! #2 rule, do a background check! Stats, likes, dislikes, ect #3 rule, record everything! Im not sure if CCP will get involved with scammers. #4 rule, if you get scammed, publicly shame the person. Has potential for abuse. #5 rule, make a written agreement on correct section of forum (same as eve/contract)

Has potential for abuse. #5 rule, make a written agreement on correct section of forum (same as eve/contract) #1 is being quite safe. It isn't necessarily true but is certainly the safest way to go about things. #2, #4, and #5 is best kept by using something like this probably. #3 is a probable "No." CCP has never been one to do anything with scammers in EVE as they like the idea that they exist. That MAY change when/if it is Aurum items are traded as CCP has cracked down against Code Scams.

as other people recommended you should use a 3rd party to handle transactions. Yes you pay a little fee for it but its the only way to not get scammed. If the guy you want to trade with refuses that then he probs is a scammer and not trustworthy to begin with. You should only directly trade with people that you can trust like for example corp mates or friends that you know long enough that they wont ripp you off.

They won't. Trust me.
The only reason they limit trade currently to ISK-only items is because they want to make sure there are no bugs that could potentially ruin the experience. I would rather lose my boosters to a professional scam artist than to a in-game bug.
Also, AUR items in-game are not codes as they are just items just like anything else in the server. CCP allows AUR items in Eve Online to be scammed regularly.
