Looks like me when I go Ion hunting, except I use my robot finger to rapid fire more, cause I suck at the charge shot. Damn nice vid though Kirk, the Ion Pistol needs more love.

Based on my use of it with an alt, I have to say that I really like the ion pistol as its a deviously complex little weapon... There's just no room for it in my current weapon lineup. +1 for shedding some light on a much maligned but actually good weapon Kirk.

Although I respecced out of the Ion Pistol, it's still one of my favorite weapons: losing only slightly to the NK and BrScP. It's in no way a bad weapon, but it really shines if one were to dual wield a pair and spam the trigger like there's no tomorrow.

It's 7 times the listed base damage, and I believe much like the scrambler rifle - partial charges count (ScR is 2.5x on max charge IIRC).
So a charged creo Io.P shot is something like ~400 damage, doubled on a headshot? Its charged fire is equivalent to a single-shot no dispersion shotgun with a LOT of ammo and 2x the range of a regular shotgun. It also pretty good for just spray-and-pray with its 16 round magazine.
When you have gal-assault 5 and ion pistol sharpshooter 5 the thing is lethally accurate too. It's a REALLY good sidearm just with the drawback of being short ranged.

I like all weapons including gallente hybrid
Ion pistol is very good fun as well as good performance
It still seems to have a glitch wwhereby if u press the trigger to charge a second shot before the first shot fully cools the second shot will misfire and overheat again
Not sure if this is documented yet

Yeah, this is an issue and there's also the issue where it doesn't overheat but instead just doesn't fire at all.
This actually happened towards the end where I charged shot the commando then insta-killed the medium frame then went back the the commando. That was supposed to be a charged shot but it glitched out on me.

I disagree. Having 0 points and using the Militia one is pretty awesome. The point of it is using the charge now that it's actually good.
You don't really NEED Sharpshooter unless you want to be really accurate with your charge shots. I don't have any points info that specific skill yet and I do alright. |

I am not sure what you are talking about but id probably be mentioning the bolt pistols headshot multiplier on top of the extreme aim adhesion the bolt pistol has. One or the other, the bolt pistol should not have both, and id vote to do away with the level of aim adhesion it has.

Used to run full gallente tech.
I love the TAR, it is my primary weapon. And I had the ion pistol as my sidearm.
But I noticed I get better synergy with an smg.
It's very hard for me to justify using a sidearm with an anti-shield bias, unless I use it as a primary. |
