If i had a mil ISK for every time i seen that post in the past two years i'd probably have double my ISK by now...
Yet people keep posting and just replacing x with the next game to come out...

While I want to trade harder than NAFTA, I must admit a new Elder Scrolls or Fallout will have me on the sidelines for months.
I'm still playing Skyrim and I figure I have another 200 in it. At least.

People don't leave Dust for other games
They play Dust when other games get boring.
See, the biggest thing Dust got right was passive sp. It allows you to come back to Dust after a long period of time and play a completely different role or try something new.
That, and the continuous updates.
I feel like CCP would break the game on purpose just so they would have something to fix in the next update.

I never understood why people are so adamant about only playing ONE game. I have played all the so called DUST killers, and still played DUST. I play Ffxiv and still play DUST. I will play most new upcoming games, and still play DUST. I play COD and BF, and still play DUST. I refuse to fanboy, I play good games, period.

At least 2000 players logged in and playing at (almost) any given time is not as bad as people want to make it sound like. Especially not for a niche game which is so harsh on new players and on a quite outdated console. If Dust was listed on the most played games list on Steam it would still be easily in the top 50 ( http://store.steampowered.com/stats ).
Just because a game doesn't have COD or BF or even Dota numbers doesn't mean that it close to dying.
I consider a game dead if the devs stopped working on it and you if you can't get into matches because no one is playing anymore.

At least until they realize that Planetside 2 is basically MMO Battlefield 3 that you can never actually win.
Dust may have a lot of problems, but the one thing it gets right is making players feel empowered when they win. Planetside 2 can be fun, but not if you go into it expecting that same feeling of actually doing something in the world that you can get from Dust.

Well between GTA, Destiny, and possibly minecraft... Most of the vets have moved on.
There might be 200-300 vets left... Rest is mainly a completely new cycled in population. Player retention is a massive issue for DUST... Be it short term or long term. |

I've bought ps3 for two reasons.
For Youtube and to continue GoW series.
I have ps3 exclussives like every PS fan but i got to admit that i don't find Dust being boring. I'm not playing often but when i do, i pick Dust.
Ps. Demon/Dark Souls (1, 1&2) and Bloodborne. They are so good yet people still play Dust.

recently played destiny, defiance just finished diablo 3 shadows of mordor
getting DAI, Bloodboorne, The Witcher 3,
these games kill dust 514 since i have no plans to play dust 514
when will i play dust 514 ?

Maybe.... But dust will remain on one console. PlayStation gives devs more freedom. Unlike Xbox. I dust CCP will migrate to multiplatform. PlayStation was the right choice.. I consider dust is still going strong. Compared to other games that came out that same year. |

EVE was developed actively on for most of it's cycle before it went to the New ship skins, New ship textures.. new maps and stopped developing it's unique concepts..
Everything in EVE currently that makes you go "OooOoOo' "AhhHhHh" Was done before 2008.
Market, 0.0, POS, Sov warfare, Bounty system, Corporation wars, Faction Warfare, Capital ships and the jump systems.
The last thing they implemented of note was Station Walking... A feature talked about since 2003.. But they massively under delivered on the feature not giving us any Social spaces at the same time as implementing an Aurum market on a subscription based game to try and milk the playerbase for more cash while not even delivering the feature they promised for years.
This is known as "Burn Jita" where there where mass player protests, Mass Subscription cancellations from notable community leaders... And even around 15 developers quitting CCP in protest... And the old guard developers that where there since the start.
EVE has stagnated and sat in what was created nearly 6 years ago... Players have had enough and are moving on... The odd new ship is doing what a new class does in any MMO... brings little to no excitement and what it does bring is momentary.
EVE is loosing subscriptions at an alarming rate... And they have never experienced actually gowing backwards in active subscribers until 2014.. and now 2015.. If they don't change something drastically within this year or the next which would probably cost 50-100 million in development atleast? They will just have a slow player decline into obscurity.
And with an investment firm owning CCP now? They don't see investing money into game development as a sure way to make money... In fact it is the most risky investment plan in all of gaming...
Welcome to the new game development scene, Where gaming is now worth more then Movies and Music industries combined.. Development studios are being bought up everywhere... Which is sad, Game development is an art that is created by artists... Trying to fit an artist into a corporate box is exactly the result of what we have for a games that come out today. |
