Clearly such a thing is possible for Ratatti and friends. But, how complex of a job would this be?
I've heard that the devs are constrained with the gametypes that they can do simply because of legacy server code, so what kind of effort would be needed? I'm sure we would all love some classic gamemodes, such as capture the flag.
I'm curious, on a scale of 1 to 10, for how much effort it would take.

To do what? Server code can only throw around items that are already there.
A flag would be a new asset, so no... unlikely.

The only game-mode they can reasonably add is King of the hill - but we already have that, it's called Domination.

Keep in mind that the new SKIN system isn't implemented yet, and that could open up new memory for a flag (or core, missile, whatever).
It could also open up the possibility of Skirmish 3.0, which really wouldn't require new assets.
Edit: Capture the vehicle(s)! Slow moving tank or lav spawns on the map somewhere, and you have to drive it to your MCC for points

This sounds like it would be really fun.
Like an "Asset Retrieval" mode.
1 team guards several hangers full of tanks and lavs while the other attempts to fight their way in, clears the area, and hacks all of the vehicles for pick up.
Once a hangar has been secured it becomes secured and the next one is available for attack. |

King of the hill? Lol, domination is more like king of the extremely enclosed or contained area for turtles. Hill precludes a completely exposed area that can be easily rushed and bombarded with more ebb and flow like action.
