And I don't mean map design or anything like that, but the size. The maps are HUGE beyond of the redzone. It's pretty clear that we won't ever unlock that whole map thanks to where DUST is right now, so my question is basically this:
How intensive is it on the system to be rendering these huge maps?
Would it be better for the game if you get rid of the massive maps and just put a background image all along the boundaries a little outside of the redline?
What is the point in keeping the maps the way they are, unless they literally put no strain on the memory?

Dont we fight in a (roughly) 1.25k x 1.25k area, on a 5k x 5k map?
I second fiends idea, pull the map size down to something like 2.5kx2.5k at max.
I literally can not understand how people can survive being so inept.

It's much larger than that, I've been able to drive in about 10 minutes in one direction before dying.

BF3 maps are bigger, though they don't need much resources to calulate skills or complex fittings.
People keep telling that we do not have the map downloaded, i guess that the way map are formed, same map, different outposts is causing problems. If maps were bigger but always the same probably it would be better. Would a client file size increase be helpful?
Play from Japan, rule the game!
