What brand of knives are you into?
How long have you been a hobbyist?
What methods of sharpening do you use?
What type of grinds do you prefer?
Honestly, just post anything about knives if you're into them. For my little contribution, I will recommend you all take a look at Cold Steel's 2015 Ultimate Hunter. Now, I'm typically not a fan of CS and their steels, but the boys down in Taiwan sure have made something promising this time around.
Comparing the UH to my BM Barrage and Spyderco PM2, I'd pick the UH over the other two easily for EDC as its just that good of a knife. It fits well and is really comfortable in any grip. The scaling is also very grippy without being too rigid. The blade is constructed from CTS XHP!!! It's a damn good knife for its price and I highly recommend you keep an eye out for any of CS's 2015 productions. I expect good thing from them.
P.S
On the off chance no one here is into cutlery, I will sadly let this thread die. |

Blade enthusiast here.
I own a good bit of Chinese blades to be honest. The Pudao and regular Dao are my favourites of the bunch I have. The Hook Sword(s) come in as a sort of third as well as the Butterfly Sword(s) coming in as a sort of fourth.
How long? Well I've had them for about 5 years now.

i just bought a $50 8 inch wustholf for kitchen work and really am liking it.. it has a soft rubber grip and holds a good edge.. all the other cooks were like damn that's a good balanced knife.. i just use a textured steel rod but it hasn't needed sharpening yet.. mundials are pretty sick too and not as expensive. my chef uses these japanese knives, probably a couple hundred $$$ each.. faberware from walmart is prett fail. |
