Ideas have been going for a while about inner ship warfare, and the problem has been map space, why? is a ship an empty box? is it not packed with internal systems etc? I found and old ps2 title Star wars battlefront 2, the huge ships have a hanger and like 5 rooms, its still a good retro title. Anyway i'm rambling so, you have a downed frigate, one of any race from EvE, the crash survivors (team A ) have to stop the attackers from making there way through the ship and retrieving the flight recorder (team b) Why? who cares, because it contains Logiboys MP3 collection, doesn't matter. so you battle your way from the hanger or any breach in the ship, from the insertion point to the bridge. along the way though you would need to hack over ride systems to open bulkheads a tiny bit like BF4 rush. you can hear the dying inner ships auto systems repeting how the self destruct system has malfunctioned. breaches in level whatever, smoke, red warning lights and hazzard alerts as you battle through multiple routes, choke points and even internal defence systems until you breach the bridge and recover the Black box from a dead pilots cracked open pod.

Also frigates are about the size of a 747. Not exactly big enough to be a map.

This. I'd like to fight around a Vexor, or a Myrmidon though.

Myrmidon = Too Big.....the entirety of the map around it would be a flaming crater.

Destroyers could be about the right size for Ambush...

although I'm pretty sure CCP said they couldn't do it, not because of Map Space...but because of technical limitations on the software of doing an entirely interior map...

but downed ships as Socket Sets would be very cool (Ship breaks up on re-entry, and different parts have landed at different spots on the map...etc)

sorry, i was thinking the map would be the ships interior not exterior, also a big ship contains alot of internal systems, engines, and various other bits, Dont over think about it, its a crashed ship, parts could be completely shut off due to debris.

Even though I'm a bit cynical as seen above, interiors would be cool.

But there are things to consider:
Do you remember how people hate the grind on Gallente Research Facility corridors?
 Multiply that to entire map!

 Might be interesting though...

Destroyers are roughly the size of a football field (think slightly bigger than an MCC). Way too small even for an Ambush.

The only ships big enough for a decent map are capitols (yes, even battleships are fairly small for this purpose, considering everything else that has to go in it). Really, the most realistic options are either a station or a titan.

I do think having some sockets with downed space ship rubble would be a cool idea and more feasible.
