Module equipped in grenade slot. Grapple is activated by holding down grenade button and allows users cling to structures or vehicles for a limited amount of time.
Uses a stamina gauge with a minimum activation amount similar to cloaking device.
User is unable to use weapon similar to how a grenade toss interrupts weapon fire. Grenade toss animation is stopped halfway to give appearance of hand clinging to structure.
User may jump from cling hold position allowing greater traversal of map sockets as far as module stamina and activation cost permit.
Please discuss.

SHHHHHHH, don't give CCP movement ideas, the 'skilled' players hate them.
PS: I love this idea, I wish for it to be noted by rattai.

I'm not sure how CCP devs code for the sticky mechanic of RE or homing mechanics of AV grenades. Makes me curious if those item properties can be applied to player with a button hold mechanic.

Tangentially you could alleviate some of the vehicle lock issues with blueberries trying to catch a ride on dropships if you simply allow them to grapple to the outside of a ship at the LZ.

I think it's better as equipment using R1. |

Interesting idea...
It could in the grenade slot but it's probably much better off in the equipment slot.
This would probably change the game. Being able to jump higher and stick to something for a certain amount of time...
OH NO. Imagine the ninja scouts...
"Hey? Where did that scout go? He just turned the corner here..."
*Looks up to see the ninja scout swooping down on him with nova knives*

Yessah, we kinda need this.

I opted for the grenade slot for the ability to quickly activate the module. Squeezing the L2 button has a more relatable feeling of performing a grasp command (yes, some people's button layouts are different).

I see what you're saying but the grenade slot is specifically made for grenades. If swap speed is your main concern, there are some threads suggesting ways to make switching from weapons to equipment faster. |

In a way, yes. It wouldn't be a Spiderman-esq web sling. It could possibly involve a small homing range like AV grenades use.

Ku Shala wrote:bionic commando 514 lolz You could also toss in a Just Cause 514 reference as well. No, I'm not thinking this would look like a grapple hook. More like a close proximity homing mechanic that has you stick to a surface or vehicle for a limited amount of time until either you let go, press the jump button, or the module charge runs out.

The animation for inertia dampening could also be used with different coloring. Acts as a weak magnet for sticking to or repelling away from structures.

What about a multiple cable variant allowing a double or even triple traversal
Stairs pssh who uses those anymore Another thing to look into for this would be a range progression instead of lifetime
For lifetime 60/80/90 progression is more than enough for quick escapes and Arial assaults For range you would probably need about 15 m to start with probably more
It would take some tweaking
all proper murder is premeditated, that's what makes new Eden fun
acidental mansluaghter charges in FW however are not

It would take some tweaking I'm a little leery of cables as they're being done so often in games now, and we don't have the assets. Whereas using the inertia dampener animation to temporarily cling to a surface you are within 5m of via a magnet system might 'appear' more novel.
