I'll get right to it. Many of us have valid suit fittings for specific circumstances but they get used only for those times when we really need an out of the box solution to what is happening in battle. The Current limit of 20 fittings is making it tough for many players to keep these old fits around and current due to this limitation because as they have moved on from the fitting style previously that worked vs the meta that is sometimes brought to the field or just because they have so many SP that they have skills in most items in game and need to be able to put more suits together to be the Johnny on the spot.
Please expand the current fitting allowance and allow us to organize fits based on grouping of suit type.

This is a short list of fits I'd like to see available to mercs but already it is over 20, and tbh we could easily make over 200 fits and use them just filling out the Pro, Adv and Basic fittings of each type based on what is effective for the map and match we are in.
This may also help fix some other issues people see, the Proto spam for instance is sometimes caused by Proto players having 20 Pro fits they need for PC battles. They have no room to run cheap suits so they don't.
This would bring the number of allowed fits in line with EVE as well. Unfortunately we still have no export ability, which would be nice as well.

I have deleted all of my Advanced fits because I only have enough slots for Prototype and BPOs APEX/Factional/STD. I have no middle ground, just expensive or free.

It's not just you, every week I look at my fits and decide which 5 of them I use the least and delete them so I have room to make new ones on the fly.

But maybe you should not create multiple threads on this yourself as there
there's been plenty of threads and people asking for more fittings and/or folders (including your previous one):

Sounds good, I just think 20 total is way too limited, every day I delete at least one fitting to make a new one.

You are absolutely right "should" have looked harder, but the first 10 pages didn't have any so I figured fresh thread time, obviously new thread new comments and as far as I am aware this particular idea has had multiple passes at different ways we want the fitting list to be laid out, so far as I know this method hadn't been mentioned but I have been wrong once in the the past so it's a possible duplicate.
EDIT: Holy crap I just found an old old thread I made about the issue back in the early days before Open Beta was a twinkle in CCP's eye.

Fortunately there's a light at the end of the tunnel.
apparently there is serious discussion about reducing the number of fittings one can load into a battle while creating multiple "decks" of say 10 dropsuits and 5 vehicles you can load. so you can have a butt-ton of "decks" but only one deck running at a time.

One thing I think was missed in the thread you linked to, Mr. Rat is completely aware of the issue but where to look for progress on it, and don't link me his board of ideas, it doesn't show any indication that it is being thought about or even worked on (apologies if I still can't read and missed it).

No need to apologize, in fact I appreciate seeing a dev comment on an old thread regarding the issue unfortunately this is still an issue and has been for a good long time. I notice our favourite CCP member is aware of the issue but being aware of something is not really helpful if it is ignored or half-assed in implementation. If fact I recall when we were given an additional 10 fittings, it did help but more needs to be done.
This is not to say I believe this issue is ignored or was solved half-assed but it seemed at the time to be a halfway fix for the issue, one that doesn't help sort fittings nor does it help overly much to only have 10 more than the original number as those original 20 fit slots were already full with plenty more mods and such added since then.

I was thinking of a folder specifically for the mexican jumping bean fits based on the number of suits the meta applies to.

I deleted my jumping commando in favor of a sniper commando.... With the recent uptick in good players on the enemy team, it is basically suicidal to jump around or simply run at them.
I deleted my Federation Chiron Logistics for a little while, to show off an officer suit, but it turned out that I needed free scans during a lost stomp. The officer suit is just sitting in inventory now.
