I have all of my core skills maxed out. I just logged in and found myself with all red fittings. I was like ummm wth happened to my suits. I seen that they were all exceeding PG and CPU as reasoning. It was reflecting what my PG CPU would be with no skills. I got to have a nice look at just how much of a boost all of that gives my suits, my dren suits are better than a basic no skilled proto o0
that was a fun learning experience glitch. I knew core skills were good, but never realized it was THAT good.
actually it was showing as if I had no skills at all, wasn't taking in reduction in guns or any of the equipment fitting reductions. Damn i'm glad I got decent SP , lol |

Moral of the story here.. core skills > weapon skills > suit skills
which of course should be a no brainer.. just repeating it again , lol

I don't know if you can put Weapons before Suits necessarily. Scouts get a really damn big refund from having levels in their race. 21 CPU / 4.5 PG for a Basic Cloak, 31.5 CPU / 6.75 PG for an Advanced Cloak, and 48.3 CPU / 10.35 PG per level of Scout. Same kinda, sorta goes for Logistics who get a pretty big refund of Equipment. There is also the facile argument of "Well, if you are not pushing a suit past its base limit there is no point to having Core Skills."
But, yes, Core Skills are awesome. I was playing around with an old SP account and decided to try to scope out some fits. It is shocking just how far 25% extra PG, CPU, and Armor/Shields go. Glad that it was an Apple Tech Support fix rather than your stuff being gone.

weapons before suits, I say this because you can progress your weapon and make your basic be near a no skill proto , on your cheap suit and requiring less fitting , and less cash lost when you die. I know I don't want a crappy gun protecting my expensive suit. |

I guess they are both perfectly viable ways of going about it.
I generally use cheaper suits with cheaper weapons and have my skills carry me. My go to logistics is a Basic Minmatar Logistics with Advanced and Prototype equipment and a Standard weapon despite having Minmatar Logistics 5 and Rail Rifle 5.

Just recently switched up to minmatar logi myself , loving it. I am taking advantage of the dren logi being an m-1 , the bonuses follow with it... atleast they seem to be, because my reps reach wayyyy out there since it's at lvl 5. Taking that , breach rifle , all basic fittings except equipment. Using core repairer for the double locks , and the 50% injector. It's pretty damn cheap and racks up the WP while keeping people alive. Downside is, when someone gets a bullet to hit me it realllly hurts lol. Minmatar logi is bad ass.
