A lot of these threads about quitter punishments are coming from people who join a match with a full squad, have one member fail to join due to a Scotty error, and the rest of the squad backs out to pick up the guy who got dropped.
However, there's no way to see that that's what happened from the outside. All you see is 6 people in the same Corp all bailing out of the match.
Having a message that states that a player was Disconnected instead of Leaving would eliminate most of these threads about habitual quitters.
There ARE some people who quit out of matches when they think they might lose, but right now those people are in the minority compared to people encountering matchmaking bugs, which is to be expected after the deployment of a code update like this one.
tl;dr most of those people you're bitching about are just backing out to pick up friends who got dropped

Precisely. Not being able to see that this is disconnects and not cowardice is causing a lot of angst that needn't be.

How about a punishment timer it prevents players from joining in fast. Make the timer at least 5-10minutes
Gellente Region = Freedom Fighters
{STD} Breach Assault + Red Dot = +50

I been thinking more of a deserter timer. This will decrease players from leaving the match so quickly.

Not DCs though - you are returned to merc quarters, then possibly at the mercy of Scotty deployed into a battle....YMMV - some have had disconnects (internal error), others haven't
It's not like your Internet dropped - it's a bug in the DUST software (allegedly)
Totally agree with you - this is not mercs wanting to look good, it's nothing to do with a choice. |
