I have ranted about this in-game and in places on the Forum.. ONE SERVER for all players This would gives us the diversity of fighting mercs/corps from all over the world on Dust514
If a merged server was intended, there would be no room for complaints, regarding region switchers Also, FW would function without as many lag issues, and there may be some hope for quality PC matches I am not a developer, so I cannot quote specifics, but I'm guessing it would take a lot of work to sort out..
I began playing Dust514, for One Universe // One War. both the cross platform possibilities and fighting with/against players from around the world to contribute to the end result of these Wars... Though throughout my time here.. none of this has been available, and what we have is not worth the time. So if/when Rattati glimpses this post, please respond on how impossible this request may be.. so I can find peace
ONE SERVER = One Universe // One War
If CCP could offer this, they would offer another unique element to their project so it stands from the rest. |

The point is - I want to shoot everyone Not play the same squads in a constant loop of grind until you get bored - logout
I enjoy fighting squads, and seeing players bringing new tactics into matches.. You cannot get this fighting the same players over and over again... especially scrubs When the connection works, the Asians are my favorite opponent .. they are murderers in a group The American server brings good fights, too many deadly blue dots though .... And EU ... let's just say, at times it's like an entire region aspire to rival Duna for being try-hards
So I want to know is it possible, a Dust where we all fight each other... Internationally - ONE SERVER
Because, fighting the same crap, again and again is just not fun for anyone involved. |

Why would you ever want to intentionally pair people up knowing they will suffer from a high ping and thus degrade the overall quality of gameplay?

what overall quality of gameplay?? for ages now players all over the world switch servers anyway. And if you think about how Dust mechanics work your question pretty much implies ..
Why would you ever want to intentionally deploy into FW ??
Teams there are usually filled regardless of region, leading to epic lag battles/grinds I am aware ONE SERVER is extremely unlikely, and even if it was introduced, would have issues But Compare these to what we have already, would it be much worse??
Deploying FW/PC being able to fight teams around the globe would be epic.. The only way I can see these working is if all servers are under the same strain, meaning it will have to be CCPs primary focus, improving the connections between players internationally.. |

Should ask Sony if they can take a look at the old MAG servers... It had lag, but nowhere near as bad as this, plus almost every match was a mix of European, American and Asian players, based on what you heard from the MIcs. |

If CCP could offer this, they would offer another unique element to their project so it stands from the rest. Sooooo, One Server // One Universe // One War? Like TQ? which is actually more like a server cluster? I get your beef with lag and being able to play against people from all over, just not understanding why it isn't like this already with tDust deployed to TQ already...

Exactly. Separate regions with such a low playerbase kills the quality of most gameplay .. If we could merge them without lags/crashes/ps3's combusting.. imagine the possibilities !!!
We could fight internationally.. the playerbase could grow internationally.. CCP make profit When they advertise 'One Universe//One War' it would not be an exaggeration on the truth.. IT WOULD BE THE CONTENT WE ARE PLAYING. And more would join up
2years and I'm still stupidly optimistic about this games progress... take that CCP!

Right now we have essentially One Universe // One War in FW and PC if you attack another region.. Lags in these games is considerably worse at times. but if something similar to my request was used it would be the main thing that benefits.. international players connecting and killing ...
I have had clearer connections in PC vs Nyain San than some of the other EU corps.. So there is no point acting like it's impossible.. we just need it to be CCP's focus.
Pubs are a joke.. they ruin the gameplay for any casual mercs gaming here.. an International merge for Public matches would mean more players - faster battle times along with more newbs and vets to fill the new matchmaking quota..
Dust offers a connection to Eve, making it unique in that sense.. If it offered international combat with good connection, we'd have another unique aspect.. Add this with solid re-marketing, and the game could thrive.. IF CCP made the changes..
Bells and whistles on gameplay options will change nothing, an overhaul like this would change THE UNIVERSE

LOL.. Surveys can confirm, we are doing the player-base a favor if we make the server crash n' burn
Light it up mercs!!!
But seriously, I want to look at the battle and not cringe to be fighting an American/Asian squad.. NO, I do not want to be left in an even smaller sandbox and be cut off from these players..

Because it pushes fixing latency between regions to the top of CCPs workload for Dust.. No new content matters until we have a playerbase that can enjoy it, we are lacking that. I'm not asking CCP to boot us in One server and lock the door.. I am asking they they dedicate to making it viable to increase activity..

Like it or not, we live on a very large round planet. Would you prefer what we have now, or never hitting anyone ever because of massive latency?
There's a reason EVE Online has a 1000ms tick-rate to go along with the "single-shard server".

Obviously not first choice, but from my own experience I connect to NA/Asia servers quite well The lag on these may be worse at times, but it's as frequent as it is on my native EU server.
I'm well aware it is a fool's hope I have for this
But.. while we are crammed into mixed lobbies, with half empty matches everywhere.. I'm open to options. For me potentially fighting mercs from around the world at any time would be some good gaming. I think many others would enjoy it to, provided a lot of work was done on the server so it could function.
And if mash-ups are possible in Pubs (mixing regions, without as much lag) Then the possibilities for FW and PC would be epic, and we'd have people actually playing these
If you don't agree post genuine reasons why. FW/PC and region hoppers in pubs, all put strain on servers = lag Why should this not be the priority of CCP to get working correctly??

There's a reason EVE Online has a 1000ms tick-rate to go along with the "single-shard server". So why not cap us all at the same tick-rate to enforce everyone suffering from the same latency?
If the worst connection in the match is at X latency, force everyone to be at X latency so that all are on even footing connection wise.
I agree with the OP and see exactly what he is saying with it.
If everyone is on the same server suffering from the same terrible connection issues though able to be pitted against the entire playerbase it will be better in the long run since then CCP can focus on improving the connection issues that everyone will be suffering from.
I also understand how this could seem bass ackwards to some, though I do believe that it would be a better way to move forward rather than giving a small playerbase all sorts of goodies when connection issues drive away any hopes of expanding the playerbase.
Consolidating the playerbase and increasing connection issues for the shortterm (so that they might better be dealt with) will be overall better in the longterm.
We the pc players make up a huge majority of active players. --Roman837

The issue is that your connection is heavily dependent on how many hops it takes to get to where you're going, and what Service Provider you have. What might be no real disadvantage to you or myself might render the game unplayable for someone that has to take too many hops to get to the server.
Ideally, CCP would take their previous idea for Tranquility of setting up a series of Proxy servers in each continent and adapt it to Dust. That way instead of having battles on a server, you just connect to the closest TQ Proxy that then crunches your data and sends it to TQ, resulting in global play with less overall latency for everyone. The only thing TQ would have to do is compare the crunched numbers and then send it's decision back to the Proxies.

I like the idea cause we're definitely fighting the same players again and again, but where would you put this server? In which country? The lucky ones closer to it will have a huge advantage. Even more than what some have now.. This is CCP, it's not Sony. And we all know they suck at doing the important things right... You prefer the game as it is now D1CK, trust me.
Fix the game before trying to add anything else.

I'm super happy you aren't claiming there are a bunch of lag switchers out there making life miserable, but some days it seems this is a possibility although CCP has stated otherwise previously. With this understood, several people I have talked to (source confidential) have attempted to induce lag through various ways, and have succeeded in reproducing the effect you are complaining about many times.
Quick fix for the majority of lag issues on the other hand is to assess the ping of the squad you join before going to a battle. Next have your server set to automatic as it attempts to find you the best connecting server (reduces lag). If this fails Rebuild your PS3 database, delete old mails, delete notifications, remove unused in-game channels, reduce your gfx intensity (lowers lag by removing computations needed for good gfx [really shouldn't need to do this as the game SHOULD have been built for the hardware]) and repeat the quick fix with a hardwire connection (I find wireless should be alright unless you experience lag no matter what you do and your wireless router is crap).
If this fails consider switching to a higher speed connection or just getting off a Cable modem to a DSL connection or Fiber.
Guaranteed fix for Lag, plug in your machine in Reykjavik with a hardline in the server room (Only recommended for designated testers that are being paid by CCP for testing).
