I want to get a modded controller in order to test the claims that the ScR fires faster than the TAR. The modded controller will ensure proper results of the test. A few questions though.
1. The hell is a modded controller? Do you buy them premade or make them yourself? What kind of price range can I expect?
2. How do they work? Is it they just spam the button you press or can you set them to fire at a certain rate (in this case, 600 ROF?)
3. Do you have to modify your PS3 in order to get them to work or do you just plug them in and go?
And before anyone tries to get uppity, no I have not, do not, and shall continue not to use a modded controller in the game. To be perfectly honest, I hadn't really heard of modded controllers before a month or so ago, and I do just fine without it. However, I want one now in order to run testing on the TAR and ScR and see if there truly is a discrepancy in how they function.
Therefore, never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

Modded controllers are just Turbo controllers. You push a button and it continuously presses the button(s). It doesn't hold it down, it taps it very fast. It can push it fast enough that you only ever get like 1/8 charge of a Rail Rifle.
They are just plug and play as far as I know. Calling them modded is a misnomer really.

The mod you can get separately, is the circuit board that you can just swap over your self.

Okay, cool. Is it possible to program it to tap at a certain rate, like 600 ROF? Otherwise there's no point for me to get one.

I don't know about that. The one my friend had when we tested it was just hold button, click turbo, and then any time you pushed the button it clicked it incredibly fast. I don't know if there are any you can program like that. I know that a lot of them tend to be misshapen abominations, or at least my friends was. Made my hand cramp like hell when I was just shooting at a supply depot to see how it worked.

Maybe I can borrow a friends or pick one up second-hand. But spamming inhumanly fast will be better than nothing.

I have a Viking PS3 modded controller and have tried it with the Viziam and the overheat is hard to control and the kick makes it almost uncontrollable the faster you try to fire it. Not worth it IMHO.
FYI though, It does work nicely with the tactical sniper. |

I don't care about using it in a fight. I just need one to test whether or not the TAR can shoot as fast as the ScR.

Had one and tried it bout 18months ago. really suefull for some things but ScR kicks liek an epileptic shire horse. your best bets are TAC rifle on a Gal Assault suit and for fully auto rifles like AR and ACR and also burt rifles to aid stability I did tests vs the rapid fire and a squad mate manually firing and he was able to empty his clip on burst rifles faster than the rapid fire which i had set to mode 2 (it was an adjustable board) with things like AR/ACR if you set it too fast the rifle will stutter, if you keep it on mode 2 again then the rof is acceptable and stable but a player who throttles their firing will probably still kill you quicker. based on equal connection speeds ect.
tl;dr save your money, my lil lad has my old one for mining on minecraft now lol

Weapons cannot fire faster as they coding allows. Both weapons fire at 600 rounds per minute. A modded controller allows you to fire those weapons at their max potential within that boundary. The thing is the scrambler holds more rounds and with that could deal more damage per clip opposed to the TAC AR.
I just see it comming that when CCP nerfs the scrambler and buffs the TAC AR people will just flock to that instead.

There are various ways how to achieve the rapid fire function. A modded controller has it inbuild and basically spams electronically the R1 button as long you hold it. Then there is aswell a device called "cronus max" which you plug into your PS3, then plug a bluetooth adapter ontop of it. Its a device that changes the incomming signals that a dualshock 3 sends to the PS3 and you can even do modifications to that.
Both do not violate TOS from sony cause you dont modify the PS3's operating system (software) nor do you open up the PS3 to do hardware modifications.
Good developers have methods to prevent using such devices. On COD for example when you oversample a weapons rate of fire the gun starts to jam and stutters instead of shooting smoothly.

Dont waste your money! Trust me! Unless all you will be doing is shooting! No hacking or using a swarm launcher/forge with a modded troller. I bought three of them a couple years ago. Tried em out and went back to standard. HOWEVER, they are super cool for laser rifles and High damage SCR. The laser rifle shoots "bullets" instead of a constant stream. You can adjust how many "bullets" per second. Out of the three I bought, I recommend the "intensafire" chip. No soldering. Installs right under ribbon. TONS of tweeks. If you DO decide to buy one, have a standard controller close by to switch back and forth..... To me, just not worth the hassle..... NOTE: No clones where killed during my weapons testing........ |

Get a vibrating toothbrush and us it to press the trigger. I you do it right, you should be able to use it for testing.
Might actually oversample it though... Give it it try if you have one, but if you notice any irregularities in the firing pattern, it is oversampling.

I just see it comming that when CCP nerfs the scrambler and buffs the TAC AR people will just flock to that instead. This is what I'm hoping to avoid. What I want is to see how the TAR and ScR perform under ideal conditions (ie: 600 ROF) and see if the TAR gums up like people claim it does. I believe its just the ponder ScR shot sound effect overlapping itself, but I want to give it a good and proper test.

Just send a corp mail I've seen a few of your guys using them. When the SCR looks like a laser it's pretty obvious. |

Ps3 IntensaFire 2.0 controller mod.
I used it a lot in the good old days of dust before they fixed the kickback so you no longer can control the TAR and SCR in full autofire. It has 10 preset modes that does all kinds of cool stuff and 1 autofire mode that has 10 rates of fire from slow to very fast. It still works like a godsend charm for call of duty and other games like that, my son is still using it for those games so I gave it to him because in Dust it just screws up my game now.
It still works in Dust you just can't control your weapon if you use fast autofire.
It's a modded chip you put inside your controller, it's very easy to do you simply plug it to the battery and put it inside. It cost 30 dollars.

Not one sub but two. Where exactly is a Dev when these cats are talking about I've used one or I want to get one ? Read the EULA they're a violation. Yes they're used all the time doesn't mean it's right. Drunks drive all the time do you guys think they should, more than likely you don't right. The only testing you're interested in doing is to test the theory of will it raise my kdr. Shooting at a supply depot lol shooting at the ground lol want to test it in front of squad mates to see what it does LOL. All any of it really means is I want to show at the top of the board at the end of the match. Cause if you used it " on a supply depot"or "the ground" you weren't satisfied with that you wanted to see what it did against a scout a heavy a logi or an assault to see how quick it died. Say no I didn't if you want troll me if you want, but if you do you are going to get straight called a liar in front of god and everybody on the forum. Put 'em on the shelf till you play COD no room for em here. |
