Hello, many of you will know that from time to time i like to visit the forums for a good old roll in the mud and excrement and bash CCP for some change they made in the niche shooter, Dust 514.
Well today is not one of those days, i come fresh and smiling (in a white suit void of poop) to just sing the praise of the CCP team.
Let me explain:
For around 6 months, Dust has been a hard place to enjoy, its a pretty tough game unless you play every day and with a gang of people who stick to your six repping you and sporting rail rifles etc, the lone wolf non serious mode of play that i have become, lets say infamous for, has been severely reduced as of late.
But no longer
The changes to match making whatever they may be, have been extremely positive and I would like to report some facts to you:
over the last 2 days we have played 20 games (an achievement in itself) and we have had no double maps, only shared the same team roster for 2 games in succession and have been playing equal skilled gangs on the other side making each round without exception a challenge and absolute pleasure.
This is simply excellent and i hope it continues - gone are the gangs where we get dropped into a match with the same groups of players on the same maps without variation and play players who are frankly just better than us by a long way.
So CCP, thanks for these changes and i know you are still twiddling knobs on the whole matching making calculations but just wanted to say already we have noticed a difference on our games and have enjoyed it immensely.
(also i hear Dust has been confirmed for the PS4? - thats also awesome) |

Fix the game before trying to add anything else.
(Hint: hit detection, lags, glitches,.. you've got some work :) )

If i were to put some context to this it would be that for a long time the match making seemed to just band people into a group, these people would then just fight eternally across all games modes. This group felt like it was barely 100 people or so that i found myself in.
As a more casual chap of Dust 514 it became very hard to counter structured gangs running FOTM and it was an absolute rarity to see other players who were just 'messing about' like i do with the plasma, flaylock etc.
If i look at the recorded ends of the last 20 matches they show a close battle across perhaps 60-70% and in terms of time taken to complete the match they are lasting on average (dom btw) 3-6 mins longer as the point is taken multiple times.
From a simple stats point of view, thats a good marker that the games are more back and forth as well as there being a pretty decent migratory game in terms of locations of combat across the maps.
So no this isnt an April fools, (i already did all that) this is an honest happy pyrex stating that what ever changed has been really good fun and makes the game much more playable for me. |

Thing is, since 3-4 days, I had the same experience... since I'm mostly lone wolfing recently, games seem to be more balanced, and if I have the trainyard, it's not for more than 2 games in a row... |
