The only things I would feel come close to that feeling of meleeing someone at 250m would be a Forge or Plasma Cannon round, which to me are like Super Hadukens and Spirit Bombs.
This is the reason I always run those two weapons with Melee mods... feel like a friggen super hero...or villian, to those squads who get Melee'd, Melee'd, Point Blank Forged, Melee'd, Forge Wuss on Top of Building Sniping me, Melee'd... aww where did that enemy squad go?
Also, when you get the invisible weapon bug it looks like you are shooting them from your hands!

I tried the Rail Rifle but I just couldn't get a hold of the weapon because it starts kicking like a mule on crack if you hold the trigger for too long. Dropship pilots are complaining still and snipers are not really that nerfed.
