Not sure the pellets 571.4 DPS I-Plasma cannon 1300 damage per clip 303.3 DPS J-swarm launcher 3120 damage per clip 557.1 DPS
Now, this is assuming the maximum output of each weapon with no modifiers. The numbers are very close accept for the shotgun, and the swarm launcher.
Now, let us assume that we are killing a target with 500 health with no shield or armor modifiers. This target is strafing, but not firing, at 30 meters away. Your suit is only equipped with a light weapon. Also assume you have 25% accuracy, always hitting the 4th shot.
You kill the target in: A- 4.85 seconds B- 6.45 seconds 1 reload C-5.26 seconds D-4.47 seconds
E-14.43 seconds 1 reload F-12 seconds 1 reload G-still testing H-still testing I- 12.9 seconds 3 reloads J- still testing
This is where the assault weapons shine. Not in DPS, but in its ability to miss at any reasonable range, and still kill its target in reasonable time. E-J are still useful support weapons, and do wonders in the right hands, but the two different weapon types, as I have separated, should not be generalized into one class of light weapons, but separated into two classes of light weapons, and medium weapons.
Medium weapons A-D should only fit on basic medium frames, assaults , and one of the two weapons on commandos. Also the Amarr logi, if it loses its sidearm. This would change the battlefield, yes, and would upset many people, but the change would help gameplay in the long run by allowing assaults and commandos to be the only ones assaulting.
If this does happen, I am in full support of a new variant of the medium weapons that can fit in light, and heavy slots. Perhaps called a carbine? |

I don't see how this is anything but an unnecessary nerf to both Logis and Commandos. I mean, sure, it would make Scout-Assault balance easier in the future, but that isn't really worth it.
It is probably a good idea if executed in a different way, though.
