Avinash Decker wrote:I said 'new content' . Also the new maps already came out and was allegedly already been made by the old team. None of those of what you said are 'new' . They were created from existing assets, through modifying. Bugfixes and stat changes isn't new content in the way I'm or a lot of people describe it. Fair enough. The maps are recycled, but as I stated above, the Dust 514 team is something like 5 guys. I don't expect them to deliver 100% new assets every patch and neither should anyone. If they did try something like that we would get a 100% brand new asset every 4 - 6 months.
No balancing or QoL fixes just a single new map. Fuuuck that.
Avinash Decker wrote:Since already talked about the 'profitability' thing; it matters more on how much money Dust generates; which we don't know. If it doesn't generate a lot then there's very little chance that they will explore that idea anytime soon. Going by that statement though until when? With tons of big titles coming out and less people playing this game the idea that the game or CCP itself will be alright is very uncertain. If I was pitching this: "If Dust 514 can be profitable on a dinosaur of a console that has to compete with the likes of PS4, Xbox One, and PC... while with a tiny staff of 6 people... imagine the money it would generate with a bigger team on a current gen platform."
Using a pitch like that the exact amount of profitability is mostly irrelevant. It matters that Dust 514 is still making money even though the odds are against it.
Not a hard sell.
Avinash Decker wrote:Rouge can want many things doesn't mean it can happen or will happen. CCP wants Eve players to go on the ground to explore, a more space simulator, etc doesn't mean thats their priority right now or it will ever happen. People shouldn't look to deeply into statements like that because it will just make people see what they want hear or get their hopes up. You are right. We should remain skeptical. I'm not emptying my bank account from aurum purchases, that's for sure. I'm just saying not to call Legion dead yet... or Dust for that matter.

CCP has this bad habbit and it kills games dead.
Source? No? Wild Speculation?
Carry on then!
I would not be surprised if this was true given the past, but at this moment the OP is just flinging around random bullcrap.

all evidence points to this being true, so much so that its an estimated 84% certainty

Also, please dear sweet baby geebus walk me through the mind-blowingly complex math that you used to arrive at that "estimated 84% certainty"

its not so much an article on WoD as it is an article on CCP development practice :P
as technically that artical ended up dealing with EvE development too (wich was teh problem)
also no, no math for you.
simply try to imagine as many possable outcomes as possable, groups as many as you can together bassed on similarities or by simplifing the thing your predicting, then add weight to each group based on evidence and pattern, then turn it into a percentage.
4 outcome groups, group one has a weight of 6, group 2 hass a weight of 4, group 3 has a weight of 1 and group 4 has a weight of 1...
then the likelyhood of outcome 1, is aproximatly 50%.
its not a numbers thing its an estimation game, and you can be suprisingly accurate with it as humans are REALLY good at pattern recognition. also its subject to all sorts of errors.
(that example is also heavily simplified)

They're already making movies. A mobile version is being built to run off Cell Phones.
And... VR games are already able to be developed by in-home users. Not to mention that they have the ability to integrate with already developed apps.... such as google earth, or a restaurant finder. Being able to sit in your chair and look in the direction of a restaurant, to visually judge how close it is can be a handy thing for many, especially if traveling.
Reminds me of this time I interviewed an older man, who had thought in his time....
"Color TV's are interesting, but are just a fad, and won't have any real use." --oops sound familiar?

Maybe the treadmill will keep us from getting seasick, although it might make others around you sick.
Legion is on pause while small work is being done on dust. I actually think this would be a good time to fix bugs, framerate, movement, hit detection, etc since that tech can be ported to legion. I could imagine even with a good pc you might still get some slowdowns in a pc battle given how bad they get on a game built for one console. Amen. Core mechanics first. If Dust/Legion ever hope to have large-scale battles(and a significant playerbase) all the fundamentals have to be in a good place.
The question should not be whether 16v16 runs smooth on PS4/PC it should be whether 64v64 & 128v128 runs smooth on those platforms.
