So there has been a debate about weather or not proto stomping is an issue in the past and both sides have valid arguments, on one hand those who run proto should be able to run proto because they earned it, on the other hand the swarms of proto players present a steep learning curve that ultimately can scare off new players making for a smaller community, etc, etc. I propose a compromise between the two sides: instead of arteficilly capping the level of gear in certain game modes, let's inscentivize the use of lower level gear. I propose a sort of wp multiplyer based either on the absolute meta level of gear or based on the difference in meta level of the gear of the individuals. My idea works thusly: hypothetical situation of a noon in militia managing to take down a proto player, he gets 50wp* whatever the modifier would be eg 1.75 modifier, conversely higher meta rated suits would get a multiplayer somewhere between 1 and .5 (numbers aren't hard, just theoretical examples I wouldn't know how to balance a game any better than a spinning plate on a stick) this allows new players to feel accomplishment for taking out bigger "baddies" and kinda keeps with the RPG tradition of more xps for harder fights...this also, according to most proto players who have weighed in won't hurt their game play experience as most say that money isn't an issue, and they already have the so to run proto so they don't need as quick of a progression.
Note: in the example I specified war points as being modified, but perhaps it would be possible to alter the effective wp for calculating so earned instead, as this would also keep income at the same level, which really doesn't need to be scaled for this proposal. |

This would be broken. no, that and there are several similar suggestions in the threads please consult your search option for more threads similar to what you want to make, it helps focus dev attention on areas that need addressing.

Many versions of this idea have been bounced around. The one I liked the most was multiplying WP for kills and assists based on the difference in meta level. |

There wouldn't be a point in running proto at that point. Proto stomping is not a issue. If your good you will wreck people regardless of the the gear. The weapons never do much more damage than the basic versions and you can make a basic better than a proto by upgrading proficiency and/or putting dmg mods on fits. Why should you punish the players who have put time into the game and are actually good or just work well in a team because your not good enough to fight back. A good player will do well in a starter fit. The protostompers are the people who actually put time and effort into the game. If you take the time to get good then you will wreck people to. Its the same as in any game, the more experience you have the better you are. |

Because it incentivises the community to grow, and the punishment is ultimately less skill points for easier kills (and yes skill and gear does make a difference. Period. Not everyone has met people to play with, if you want to run proto O run it, you get less so for killing newbs but you have proto so you don't really need so right? Plus it puts a drawback on the apex suits which is nice. Where's the punishment here, really? Besides usually the proto users are also more practiced in teamwork and strategy's so realistically this just helps noons out in getting their feet wet.

First off - Don't write a giant text wall with no spacing. Second- It's 'Whether' not 'Weather' Third - There is no debate. Proto stomping is a major issue and flaw with the game. Also one of the biggest threats to this game's survival. That's just a fact.

As far as newbies getting their feet wet, CCP has provided the battle academy for this reason.
Personally, I don't believe proto-stomping is really an issue at all. it's just as prevalent and annoying as militia stomping and running proto stuff doesn't make you that much harder to kill.
Next, I don't believe that it's fair to punish those who do proto-stomp partly because they are only utilizing a feature they've earned, which is how games should be . This is one of the few games out there that doesn't hand you everything on a silver platter, you have to earn what you get. The idea of being on 'equal ground' with proto runners provides incentive to do so.
Next, it's been my experience that stomping in general isn't a too-often seen problem; I encounter it about once every 20 or so matches, the bottom line being that if you don't like how the match is going, you have no obligation to finish the match, and if you're doing well in a match, then you haven't a reason to complain about it.
