Like a gigantic red doom laser pulsating out of a turret. LI suppose you could reuse the one of our current turrets to save on art assets.
Maybe make it so it cant be shut down once it starts up(Just a suggestion here, don't hurt me!) with a short cool down time.

Yeah, and that tube is usually really small and set towards the back of the device, not like a barrel you see on a conventional gun. If you've seen any real laser turrets, you'd see that they look more like a really short telescope or a big camera than a typical turret. They don't have long metal rods sticking out from the front, but are instead more compact and short.

Laser needs to be the long range turret with easy overheat. Fire a continuous beam for 3 seconds with skills the overheat. Maybe have the heat sink mod allow for more time, but with damage to tank after overheat
Scrambler would be a short range burst turret like the blaster turret combined with the scram rifle operation.
Bur hey, who wants that long range (relatively speaking) plasma cannon turret?

The autocannon, which is basically a giant HMG as you said (it should have slightlly less DPS than the blaster but a longer effective range). The other is the artillery turret. I'd give it slightly less direct damage than the railgun and an equal firing interval, but to make up for it it would have no firing delay (charge time) and increased splash damage and/or radius.

I was hoping for more of a scrambler rifle type. Charge shot or weaker rapid fire, over heats like the ScR as well.
I think it would be great, make it shield proficient like the weapon :3

TBH with DUST 514 inventing the "scramblers" for the Amarr, it might just be a Scrambler Turret, it would be interesting if it had a "charge" capability
