At the moment the UNSAFE mechanic as you pass outside of the map's boundaries is too much of a jarring transition, it is unlike all the other mechanics that exist and can be rationalized within the game's rules - what makes this region of the map unsafe? airstrikes? sinkholes? enemies? - I thought the whole battlefield was unsafe, with the bullets and the explosions and all.
I submit for your approval the UNSAFE mechanic reborn, branded the "TACNET Control Radius".
You could make it a polygon if you wanted, but the best explination of it would be a radius around the MCC for the attackers, and a radius around the city for the defenders; yes this leaves some inaccessible areas on both sides, but I'll get to that.
How the boundary would be addressed is as you leave the zone, you recieve a Heads Up Display message something akin to "Leaving Combat Zone; TACNET Signal Degrading" or something to that effect.
After a few more meters, you would begin to lose your electronics, first to go would be the Heads Up Display. Followed by secondary movement (ducking and jumping), you'd lose the ability to strafe and then finally your suit would shut down. You would be presented with the spawning screen again because lo and behold, TACNET can't get a signal out of you and thinks you're dead.
Please post feedback. |

Like the idea, not sure its broken right now other then being really hard to notice, but I think this idea is even better! Fits much more into the ethos of CCP and the style of the game!

I know it's been done and would be difficult to emulate without a problem, but the way it was handled in Assassin's Creed worked very well. There was a transparent line extending vertically from the ground and you could cross it, with a few seconds to get back, or you were terminated. This would fix the problem of not realizing you are out of bounds. I died twice today from it because I must have JUST stepped out and then went to snipe view and AFAICT there is no warning on the zoom view.
At the very least make the unsafe warning flash very quickly and put an audible warning. Something like a bunker alarm so you get the point immediately. |

They should make the area that's unsafe show up a different color on the mini map.
Yup, that'd do it. |

I imagine the employer is throwing the kill switch because you going outside the radius of where you need to be effective. |

"you'd lose the ability to strafe" So basically you lose the ability to walk? because that's' what strafing is, walking.
Stupid idea. |

Stupid idea.
What I meant by strafing was lateral movement, from a mechanical point of view if you could do nothing but rotate and move in a straight line you'd be OK mobility wise to get back to the zone.
Since the system would be going in order of descending priority, movement would be one of the last things to go, since at that point you're seconds away from being greeted by the respawn menu anyway. |

Awsome idea, it would give the MCC a little more realism as well, right now it just kind of floats overhead and is just a glorified count down timer. |

I have been thinking about a curious alternative for vehicles: when vehicles enter the "unsafe zone" they get kicked back with some sort of U-turn maneuver. |
