I am already pretty good with nova knives, but it seems like every time I kill an enemy and then run I die. I have lvl 5 nova knives and rail rifles. My scout is the m-1. I have a basic rail rifle and cloak field and a zn-28 nova knife. The suit is made out of paper though, so if someone spots with or with my cloak I usually die. Any tips? |

What is your fit? On a Scout M1, in the highs, run extenders, or if you want, precision enhancers. Lows, always go damps. Unless you have Dampening 5 and there are no focused gallente scanners, run dual damps. Try a Kincat if no one is scanning. Also, Nova Knives pit you really close, and the RR is for long distance engagements. I strongly recommend a switch in weapons because trying to kill anyone from that far away in a Min Scout will kill you. Get a SMG, or Combat Rifle, Assault Rifle. Use something that you know you can use as a finisher. Use the cloak to get behind, albeit duck in and out of cover so it recharges, and then knife them. Stab them in the back, and if you see they start turning around, either gamble and hit them again, or finish them with your SMG/CR/Weapon of choice. If it's a heavy, jump over his head and knife him again, or run away

I have a militia cpu upgrade and meta upgrade in addition to what I mentioned before. I am working on getting the basic versions of these. |

I'd say ditch the cloak and work on being sneaky without it. Personally, I find it take too many fitting resources.
A fit I'd suggest:
2x shield extenders, dampener, kincat, ASSAULT rail rifle (much better CQB), knives, flux, hive (meta as needed)
Always try to get the drop on someone since you'll never win in a fair fight. Flux first (or knife if you're close enough) and finish their armor with the RR. Try to make a speedy getaway if things go south.

I am already sneaky without the knives, it just makes it easier to run across open space and hide in corners after being chased. Should I use basic weapons or the proto variants. |

Swing by the Barbershop(link). It would be helpful if you tell me your skill tree. I run scouts only. I have both proto Min and Gal scout. With the Min I think the CR is best to run with NK. Don't rush at people, you're easily spotted unless running damps on a min scout. Don't rely to much on cloak, its only good when crossing between cover but never near enemies. I usually wait or bait myself, most players will turn the corner chasing you and I hold a charge blade and kill them. Remember scouts don't play fair, they fight dirty. They lure people, they are back stabbers. Know how to pick your fights, if you can't get close enough run away or wait for the right time while being aware of you surroundings. Don't cloak in dark areas because you're highly visible believe it or not. I barely use my CR, I usually just my NK on a min suit, and best thing I can say is always move, pay attention to enemy movements. Hunt loners, if you see a red about to hack something let them think you're not there once they start hacking its end game for them. |

You may want to consider the Mass Driver: decent range, good damage, adds chaos so you can escape.

I'd suggest a Combat Rifle or SMG. Both are easy to use and deal a fair amount of damage. And I prefer the Flaylock to the MD on my knifing fits. It's more fun that way. |

If you know your team is going to win I and you have a mean streak I actually suggest the rail rifle, less people escape surprise attacks, the other rifles sometimes give the enemy a chance to get to cover |

Cloaking an M-1 does'nt really leave you to much room for error. I def think you will be happier after you hit enough SP to upgrade. Also minmatar scouts don't have a ton of CPU/PG, so keep that in mind. Also I would'nt give up on the Combat Rifle for your play syle, it does well. Good luck

Good luck This is good, plus the CR has lower fitting costs, which is very helpful.
Remember this, that with EWAR circles, if you knife someone, and they are in a squad, unless its a heavy, you will very likely pop up on their squad's shared passive scans, and they will know you are there to look for you/kill you.
EWAR circles have drastically reduced the ability of knifers to take on multiple opponents, and you practically have to stick with lone targets, or highly distracted targets.

As I experienced myself when it was first released, the rail rifle isn't really a scout weapon. Scout weapons are all about doing damage before the enemy can react- the rail rifle requires too much exposure, both with the charge, and the rate of fire. Anyone else with a rail rifle will laugh at you, then kill you. They're fairly common weapons.
If you're hell bent on using it, try using the scout's mobility to get into crazy-ass places other suits can't reach, then shoot at **** at long range, I guess.
