The mass driver is broken in pubs. I normally don-¦t bother to talk about op things in Dust but this is above that. Explosive weapons like the MD are just silly when the user can stand in his/her footprints and blast at everything up close without getting hurt. Makes the game cheap.
I-¦ve always loved dust because it-¦s a game where one needs skills to survive. Lately I-¦ve had a feeling this is fading away.

You Sir made me ROFL...
So you really want to say, that one of the few weapons, that has NO AIM ASSIST and horrible DPS compared to rifles is a problem for you? Seriously?
This has to be a troll. The only thing I know, after using the MD almost exclusively for my first 1,5 years in Dust, that my KDR went up fast, as soon as I skilled into some rifles.
The MD kills the owner on a regular basis. The MD DPS is much lower than that of any rifle. The MD needs cover to work at all, if you are open field against a rifle user that keeps his calm, you are dead using a MD.
The MD shines however in the areas where he is supposed to: Dispersing people who think they are safe behind cover. Dispersing blops and logi trains. Frightening the fearful do run through a chokepoint that has a MD user covering it. And obviously raining death from above.
These are scenarios that are what the MD is made for. General infantry one v one, is usually dominated by any rifle.
So if you have problems with an MD user, you have to deny him his advantages: Flank him and he's dead. Don't crowd up, and it will take him forever to kill you all. Keeep your temper, and he will go down faster in a straight shootout due to DPS. And finally, do not run in a straight line to avoid a MD. If he has any experience with it, he will lead his shots, and hit you most of the time. So zig zagging is your friend.
The MD is definitely not something that is easy to master, if you account for all situations in the game. He has merits, but also big drawbacks, learn to exploit those.

Not sure what you are talking about. You can die by the splash of your own MD in any mode.
Because, that's why.

I suggest you try using one and see that it isn't as easy to use as some people think. Make yourself a fit and go run some pubs. See how many kills you get compared to what you would normally get with a good rifle, assuming you have some amount of gun game, then come back here and apologise.

As a big fan and probably the best MD user in Dust, (cough) all I can do is laugh at your silly little OP.
I die very often to my own MD, on many maps its a terrible weapon to use and is really only viable as a supporting tool if you're in a squad of good rifle users.
Its definitely the hardest anti-personnel light weapon to use in the game. At least at a level where you dominate the same way you can with a rifle. Its a specialist sort of weapon for specific situations, and its in a very good place right now, far from OP yet still viable in the right hands/situations.
I see people with rifles going 30-2. all the time, many times a day, I do it myself too, but I am never close to rack up the same sort of numbers with my MD.
If its really OP as you seem to claim, use it and see how good you're doing, my bet is that you will be back to using a rifle pretty soon.

I-¦ve always loved dust because it-¦s a game where one needs skills to survive. Lately I-¦ve had a feeling this is fading away.
Longest time to kill of any weapon in the game, sidearms included, if you're up against anything but the most thinly tanked suits. Shortest time to running out of ammunition of any weapon in the game. Slowest projectile speed of any weapon in the game. No benefit from the game's built in aim-assist for DS3 controller users. And contrary to the OP's impression, can easily lead to suicide, particularly when using cover with a tall vertical edge, like a corner instead of a small box, in a laggy match.
But indirect fire and splash damage make up for those disadvantages in the right circumstances. Its a fun weapon because, right along side the plasma cannon, getting kills with it is kind of satisfying. Its anything but an "I win" button. While a little OP in very specific circumstances, those are the exceptions, as a rule, in most combat situations, its underpowered. People who can take advantage of its strengths and compensate for or mitigate its many, significant weaknesses, can enjoy it.
You really should try it before complaining that its OP. I think you'll be unpleasantly surprised.

Mass driver is fine. If you want to complain about a light weapon you can complain that 1. Tactical Scrambler rifle is OP, 2. Breach Rail Rifle is crappy, 3. Assault Scrambler Rifle is slightly less crappy. |

The good:
Mass Driver is one of the anti-AA weapons. Mass driver takes skill. Mass driver is a double-edged sword, you can easily hurt yourself with it. Mass Driver's effectiveness is conditional on terrain/environment.
The bad:
Mass Driver contributes to Dust's already explosion-riddled experience. Mass Driver is approximately a OHK weapon when used as a noob-stomping tool.
I have nothing against the Mass Driver itself, and i love that it's a skill-based anti-AA weapon, we need more of those.
But i hate what it does to the NPE and first impression Dust makes on peeps. Our explosion-rich game comes off as cheap & cheezy, imo. Kinda the clown of the fps genre. Does anybody else feel like new players come away from Dust feeling like the game is all about cheap tricks?
