Rule
Put an automatic team order on all players with less than 15 million lifetime SP (noobs).
If you kill an enemy within 35 meters of a noob, receive an additional 10 war points (stacks with objective bonuses, but applied only once if multiple noobs are present).
Noobs should be marked with a large blue ring (35 meter radius) on the minimap.
Intent
Hopefully this would encourage people to protect noobs alot more, while raising awareness about who is new at the game and needs a hand.

You'd be amazed at the journeys these newbies take through the maps. Their routes will open your eyes to places you've never imagined existed. I've followed a few, it's incredible how many just find their inner peace somewhere 500m from the objective and meditate upon the rifle they hold in their hands, slowly rotating on the spot.

Interesting idea, great for pubs. I wander if we could also set up some kind of opt-in 'Mentor Mechanic' for pairing noobs up with vets.
Put them in a squad and reward them both for working together.

I try and squad up or do the help chat thing. I wonder if making a default chat with dust university and immortal guides could be a thing. I did start as a clueless sniper...

I think that simply knowing who the noobs are would significantly change the way we play. In my opinion, every beloved noob out there is worthy of a defend order. |

If you want to have some fun get a squad together and about half way through the match check the killboard for that newbie somewhere near the bottom that is actually fighting. He will usually be the one in 12-14th place at like 1/10. Once you have spotted your man throw the D-order on him and have the squad actually run with the d-order.
It is pretty funny seeing the various reactions when they realize the squad is outright following them. |

the ones that do listen- you explain game to them then they say "cool bro but do you have COD?" i say no i dont play that and then they say ok i'm gonna go play COD now.. i spent a lot of time in academy and pubs but %99.999 noobs will not listen, they have to get stomped first or they think your kind "funny" when you offer them help.. they're like "bro, my skillz just made me go 15/8" (in academy) but they don't understand that they just pwned a bunch of noobs in academy,
TLDR noob will not seek help until he is stomped |

What if instead of a red or blue "V" indicator above players' heads, it showed some sort of ranking icon based on their lifetime SP, so you could easily detect the level of the player you were looking at? |

I could see this being abused by vets with alt accounts. 15m lifetime SP is quite high; you could easily have a dropsuit, relevant tanking skills, and rifle to proto with that. Hell, you could even have several of your core skills to IV.
I would like to see a color-coded symbol to indicate four tiers of lifetime SP... If I could easily see someone's lifetime SP at-a-glance from within the battle I would lend them a hand now and then, no bonus WPs required. I would send mails post-match to bottom-tier players telling them "Good match. Here is something that might help you next time... [insert veteran knowledge here]"

How can this be abused? 10 wp more per kill near a noob would make you go 10k wp per game?

Is there a better way to promote noob assistance other than throwing a defend order on them and providing WP incentive to kill nearby enemies? |

As someone that is new to PC gaming in general I had more luck with Blacklight Retribution. I have held off on giving PS2 a go on PC until I get a bit better with m/kb. |

This reminds me of a trick for DM's:
"Get the players the like the DMPC's because they give them some benefit that they couldn't get elsewhere." Oh yes, not only am I a fat, misshapen human blob that plays CCP videogames but I also have the illustrious title of being the sorry son-of-a-b**** that DM's for my friends. *seductive voice* Ladies.
While I like the sentiment of trying to help new players, I disagree with the way this goes about it. There are a few key concerns:
1. What is a 'noob'? SP? WP? Based on the gear they are using? 2. Just getting 10 extra WP for killing people when there happens to be a 'noob' around doesn't really do anything for them. It doesn't have people try to defend the 'noobs', they will just go about playing as normal and will occasionally get +10 WP. 3. Getting a bonus for killing doesn't showcase the other ways of going about supporting newer players. 4. This doesn't really help the new player at all; it is a bonus given to everyone else other than the 'noob'.
Interesting idea, my misgivings notwithstanding.

I'm surprisingly better with it than I expected. It still seems like I'm using horse drawn farming equipment or something using the keyboard for movement. |

It raises awareness of who is a noob, by providing a defend order on them. It would circle noobs on the minimap, so that players who know how to provide additional support besides killing nearby enemies will know who needs coddling.
We could find an alternate definition for what a noob is. I arbitrarily chose 15 mil lifetime SP since by that point a player should generally have the ability to survive on the battlefield. |
