I know I will get a LOT of hate for this, but hear me out.
Before planetary conquest, public contracts were all about fun, where finding your own niche was more important than the best meta. Additionally, people could not even think of running proto as much as they do now.
However, with its addition to the game, planetary conquest brought lucrative rewards for those who would participate in it. This caused many to seek out the best fittings possible, even refusing to let those with "subpar" fittings into their squads. Inflating the issue, these players also earned the isk needed to run their perfectly optimized fits and stomp the heck out of players in pubs.
Ever since, Dust has lost a bit of its magic in my heart; the game where you could be anything and still make it work. |

lololololololololo...
I'll just go ahead and continue to run my triple jump mod nova knives in pubs, while i own these 10 districts(which gets me close to no isk.)
If you think no one cared about the best fits and use the most powerful items you are wrong. people always like using the best stuff in all games.

If you think no one cared about the best fits and use the most powerful items before PC you are wrong. people always like using the best stuff in all games. there have always been try hards and will always be try hards.
Yes, they were technically always there, but they did not have nearly as much of an influence in the game as they do know, stomping about in their "perfect" fits. There were once just as many, if not more, players who understood that games are meant for fun and not just a competition to achieve the highest DPS possible.
And I'm not condemning the use of those fits, it's just the fact that they are so prevalent that they scare off any potential new players who are trying their best to work with what they have and have fun with it. Before planetary conquest, it was way too expensive to run those maxed out fits, giving the newbunnies a chance.
I miss the days where people with nonsensical fittings could work together and put some actual strain on a protostomper's wallet to drag him down to their level. |

And I have no issue that you are having fun, I just want to be able to say the same of the newbunnies. They are likely burning through a larger percentage of their wallets trying to combat you than you are. |

No they were...... you need to remember the Pilots, Laser Riflers, and AR fanatics from Chromosome.

Not porting this game to ps4 is the worse thing to happen to this game. Because we are on a ticking time bomb existing on the ps3 network.

yeah people camping, abusing the viziam laser rifle during pubs and corp battles sure was fun... not. Back then any suit was really good but proto tanks/suits/weapons where cr+żme de la cr+żme specially with maxed skills on the right places you could fit anything on those vk.0's and sh*t on everyone. A lot of people back then had kd's above 10, and even 20 by just running infantry. I used to have a kd of 9 and then dropped because uprising changed a lot of skills and gameplay mechanics one being the reduction of range and the removal of the proficiency skill and the sharpshooter skills that gave you 5% more damage and 5% more range each level.
Reminder that back then in order to reach proficiency you had to maxed out weapon damage for that particular weapon. So you had weapon damage for the duvolle to level 5, now you have unlocked proficiency enabling you to stacking even more damage. Plus damage mods which were 10% more damage... yeah...
you could go 30 and 0 every game. hence why a lot of people had such ridiculous high kdr's back in chromosome.
