Your scan has a certain range. Range amplifiers increase that range by a certain percentage.

Precision is more in depth. Every dropsuit has a Profile. If your Precision is higher than the dropsuit's Profile, you cannot see them on the radar. Precision enhancers reduce your Scanning, making you more likely to pick up enemy dropsuits.

Dropsuits' passive Scans work in three ranges: Short, Medium, and Long. Short is 0-25%, Medium is 25-75%, and Long range is 75-100% max range. Short range Precision is 10% better, medium is baseline, and long range is 10% worse. This means that at short range you multiply by .9 and at long range you multiply 1.1 because Precision is better to have a smaller number.

Let's say we have a Dropsuit that has 30 db (that is the Precision) and a range of 20 meters. Picking numbers for ease of explanation. Between 0-5 meters. the Dropsuit will have a Precision of 27, at +5 -15 meters it will have a Precision of 30, and at +15-20 meters will will have a Precision of 33. With these stats, you would not see a 26 profile suit at any distance, you wouldn't see a 30 profile until it got into your medium range, and you would see a 35 profile suit all the way up to your max range.

Amplifiers and Precision enhancers work well together. Amplifiers increase the range so each band is larger and Precision make you generally capable of picking more people up.

thats a lot of technical information, and i thank you for taking the time to reply, but in simple terms, do precision enhancers help you detect people close to you? and of course the range amplifiers increase the distance at which those people are detected?
