So it seems like people who spend money are able to get an edge, which goes against what was said about the game. Will this change later, because a lot of items are AUR only. which seems unfair to me. |

the full market hasn't been integrated yet. At that time you will be able to purchase anything with isk, so long as people are willing to sell it to you. |

The primary stats are the same as the ISK versions, only the requirements / descriptions are different. The AUR items are effectively the same as EVE meta 4 vs T2... |

First of all there's a lot of things that have not been finalized yet. Second, there aren't a lot of AUR only stuff in the market, most of the AUR stuff have ISK counterparts, like Assault rifles, and dropsuits. Things like the SP booster is AUR only, and I see why they've things like this.
Here's an example, when I bought AUR for the first time (the $9.99, 2500AUR pack), I went to the market to see what I can buy with it. I realized that everything in there had its ISK counterparts. For example, the Assault rifles, the GEK-38 "Killswitch" is available for AUR if you're at Assault rifle operation level 2. And the ISK GEK-38 is available at assault rifle operation level 4. Guess what I did?? I said screw it, I'll spend some 4-6 hours of gameplay and train my skill to level 4 and get the ISK version. Same happened with the dropsuits, I went in there and realized the AUR variants are just different colors, again, I said screw it and went for the ISK ones. The only thing I ended up buying with AUR was the SP booster bec. its only available for AUR.
What I'm trying to say here, is that if they have everything for ISK, most likely about everyone will do what I did and go for the ISK versions if they're available, and no-one will bother to spend money on AUR. And if that happens, CCP won't be making money to fund the production, and the continued support of Dust 514. There has to be some incentives for spending money on the game, this is a business in the first place, and NOTHING in this world is FREE. If CCP doesn't make money, simply, there is no game.
Conclusion: The direction I see Dust 514 to be taking is fine IMHO, AUR doesn't give you that much of an advantage, but still gives you the incentive to spend some $$. |

I completely agree, they're making the game F2P, so they have to make some money; I for one will spend some money just to support them; not in the Beta though. |

Any money you spend on the Beta will get refunded in FULL to you in case of any beta wipes, and when the game launches. So, if you spend $10, $20, $50 on the beta, you'll get all of them back when the game launches |

Yeah the AUR items dont offer much of an advantage except those with reduced resource costs
If I ever get Aurum I'll be spending it on boosters, far more value if you ask me. |

Yes, I can imagine that eventually there will be quite the lucrative "isk market" for boosters and other stuff that is available as Aurum only. So, much the same as you can with Noble Exchange crap in EVE, if you've got money you can spend it and buy the aurum items, then turn around and sell it to players for ISK. You win, they win, CCP wins, everyone's happy. |

If AUR is the only way to buy certain items, then I'm hoping that we can buy AUR with ISK.
Eve players can buy Plex with ISK... why can't we buy AUR with ISK too then? O.o |

You wont be able to buy Aur with ISK, but if someone buys Aur items, then puts them on the open market, you can buy those items with ISK, same as EVE.
And PLEX is the same, players buy PLEX with cash, then put it on the market for ISK. |

there has been a lot of QQing, i think the current model is fine because its NOT pay to win, its pay to get something slightly earlier. the low level pay items are simply the high level items with a slightly reduced skill requirement. as far as i can see for the high ones, they are simply different stats changed around or simply a different colour |

If it doesn't give you a statistical advantage over your opponent it's fine by me. |

Whilst CCP did say on the PSBlog that it wouldnt be 'pay to win', at 'Eve Fest' (or whatever its called) they said that people using Militia gear would have a hard time taking down someone with Prototype stuff. That makes perfect sense, but saying it isnt a form of 'pay to win' just isnt true, people who sink real money into the game will have better gear, and better gear means having a edge. Even if you can get equal gear just through playing -which is great-, people who whip out their wallets will be getting the stuff with less effort, a lot more often.
We'll have to see if ISK gained just through play can keep up with the 'wallets warriors', but you cant deny that paying does offer an advantage. |

I do not like the idea of spending real money on any gear in the game, that is one that i disagree with alot. I do not mind the booster idea that is cool, but the weapons should be for aur or isk. and they should be the same weapon. maybe a mechanic to convert between the two? sorta like plex's? |

*sigh* Like I said before, there WILL be a mechanic to buy Aurum items for ISK, it's called the open market. No you cant convert directly from ISK to AUR but that doesn't matter if every AUR item is available on the open market for ISK *facepalm* It's not complicated. |

Man... some of these people really should have played EVE like everyone suggested before Dust hit beta.
In EVE, you buy PLEXes (30 days of game time) for real money ($20 usually), and then you can either use them to plex your account (which is silly, cause it's only $15 to pay for a month), or you can sell them for roughly $500,000,000.00 ISK (half a billion). so in essence, you are buying ISK with real money, but doing it in a way that gives CCP money, gives you ISK, and gives a third person who doesn't want to spend real money on a subscription another month of EVE.
In DUST, when they implement the open market, probably shortly after release, people will be able to buy AUR with real money, purchase the AUR items off the market, then resell them for highly marked-up prices in ISK. So expect to be paying at least 100,000 ISK on the most piddly of AUR items, and upwards of probably 500,000 ISK on the better gear, and easily well over 1 million ISK for boosters etc. I'd assume even like 5 to 10 million ISK for the 7 day boosters at first, if not more. As the game progresses, and more ISK is earned, I would not be surprised to see in the first 6 months of DUST, the price of boosters go up exponentially, to probably 50 million ISK or more. But, this is all pure speculation.
The thing is, ISK has something of a real-world value. Certainly that value in DUST will be higher at first, due to a lack of saturation, but as the game gets older, and more isk is floating around, it will slowly depreciate. And when/if they eventually include trading between EVE and DUST.. well... put it this way. Currently, 2,500,000 ISK is worth roughly 10 cents USD. so if an item costs the equivalent of $1.00 AUR, expect to see it cost roughly 25,000,000 in game
I used this site to calculate the currency transition. It is absolutely not 100% accurate, as prices fluxuate almost constantly, but it is nice to have a rough estimate.

Well supposedly isk will be able to be sent from eve -> dust. Will aurum be the same? If so, you could isk->plex->aurum in eve then send it over to a dust character. I've never messed with aurum in eve, can it even be sent between eve characters? |

I don't like the idea of having AUR only items as much as the next guy with no money, but I doubt it will remain that way. I think its more likely so they can test the AUR mechanics in game. I'd hope they'd give you the option of an LP store style interface for these AUR items, so you have other options than 'vastly inflated player market' or 'real money' |
