I think this might get GJR back to the forums.
This is a hard question. The thing is that there are hard tacos and soft tacos while burritos are generally just soft. And what is the definition of burrito? Can it be an enchilada, in the line that it is just a tortilla with meat, cheese, and sauce that you eat with a fork? This would certainly help make up the deficit that burritos have in regards to soft and hard tacos.
In truth, I think I have to go with burrito if it is a real burrito and taco if it isn't a real taco. IE, Cheesy Gordito Crunch from Taco Bell basically kicks the hell out of everything else on the menu but it isn't 'real tacos' or Mexican food. For real stuff, I gotta go with burritos. There is a restaurant a few miles from my house that makes some awesome burritos. Cream cheese style beef burrito with cheese and beans on the side. Tasty as hell.

Anything with a hard shell is not a real taco. Don't get me wrong, that's what the wife makes for taco night, and they are delicious, but that's not a real taco.
Anyway, burritos are for culo gordos. TACO FTW. |

It has superior versatility.
A burrito must be filled with flat, soft, and non-sharp ingredients. All the ingredients wind up the same temperature so fresh vegetables aren't going to be crisp or cold in a burrito. The burrito is typically filled with, rice, beans, cheese, ground or shredded meat, or for the despicable....potato.
A taco can be filled with damn near anything at varying temperatures. Shredded adobo chicken, bok choy, corn relish. Fried pork, sliced avocado, baby spinach, and fresh goat cheese. Shrimp, lime, iceberg. Damn near any kind of flavor profile you want.
The taco is vastly superior.

Nope. Not an enchilada in these parts.
At least here in New Mexico, Burritos are traditionally smothered with chile. Enchiladas are smaller, use different ingredients (often corn tortillas) and taste completely different, but are also smothered.
Other regions may beg to differ, though. I wouldn't know.
