So here's the thing: The Squad Finder is messing up the matchmaking. So please for the love of god stop using it to make sure the matches are more balanced.
The matchmaking matches squads against other squads. It doesn't care about the corp or anything. It takes the squad rating which is somehow calculated by the players who are in that squad and uses that to make the matches. Here's what happens when you use the squad finder:
You will play with blueberries who also use the squad finder. But it will be in no way different than playing with normal blueberries except that you may get one additional orbital out of it due to squad points. Won't help you though, because the matchmaking will match your blueberry squad against corp squads with a similar rating. But these corp squads talk with each other. They are organized, contrary to your squad consisting of 6 blueberries. That's why you will get stomped and that's the reason why people always say the matchmaking isn't working. The matchmaking is working as intended as CCP has said very often. But the matchmaking doesn't care if your squad consists of 6 people using the squad finder or of 6 people knowing and talking with each other who are in the same corp.
So for the love of god: If you don't want to play with people you know then just go in solo. It's less frustrating for everyone this way.
Tl;Dr: Squad finder sucks. Don't use it.

That actually makes sense, but we should probably come up with a solution better than "don't use squad finder." I shall ponder this one for awhile, got nothing now.

It does make sense. Never thought about that before. But it's impossible for CCP to make the difference between an organized squad and a blueberry squad. Many players play together and are not in the same corp/alliance. I think tiered gamemode will solve that.. well, we'll see ^^
Fix the game before trying to add anything else.

Matchmaking is difficult because the number of Dust gamers is pretty small. The top players would never find a game if they were always matched up against each other. If they did it would be (more or less) against the same people over and over again.

Or you could turn a squad of blueberries into a semi useful unit using basic call outs and the squad order radial wheel.
I barely managed to type that without laughing. I forgot that squad finder was for anything more than checking if your squad was bugged. |

squad finder is great for filling vacant slots in your squad with specific roles, just ask squad finder for that scout/logi/heavy/tanker/gunner and you shall recieve.
not using squad finder just means there are less squads to go up against the proto squads :P

CCP should come up with a solution if you ask me. The matchmaking should really care about how many people of the same corp are in a squad. But for now the best solution is to not use it. Not much else we can do about this.

That is of course correct. But things would at least be a bit better if the matchmaking would make a difference between people of the same corp playing together and people of different corps. There doesn't seem to be a perfect solution (at least none I can think of) but this would make it at least a bit better.

When you have a team with a full corp squad it wouldn't be about matching them against equally good people. It would more be about filling the rest of their team with newbies and the other team with advanced players. There's only so much 6 extremely good and organized players can do against 16 rather good players, when the rest of their team is full of blueberries.

So, on the one side, we are shouted at because we go solo. But now we are also hated because we use the squadfinder to not go solo?
Decide, for ****'s sake.
Or, better yet, nerf squads in pubs by making them smaller/removing them. Keep them for FW. That's how it's supposed to be, anyway. |

Solution is obvious: Communication. And then more importantly: Obey your squad leader.

Nooooo!!! I like playing with my friends, and if squads were only allowed in FW we would never play, it takes forever to get in those matches. Besides, I think all you need to do is to find people you enjoy playing with and keep in contact with them. If you like solo, thats cool too. |

The problem is we need more QUALITY squads...
My corp ran some que synch pubs the other night (FYI we were never on the same side; matchmaking working there) We had two 6 man squads and it was some of the best pubs I've had in a long time. Everyone was fighting, which goes to show that if that yellow belly batch of blues had a solid squad stiffening their ranks they will fight!

So you are saying you want time in the warbarge back so we can squad up because there is a decent chunk of WP difference between squad command groups and those without. Considering ISK and SP are WP based.
You are saying, "Because a few guys are proto stomping pubs don't join a squad of randoms until you are in match. No value gain or lost either way, just go in solo and give up that WP."
What they could do to straighten out the match making is to keep people in the same server for say 3 games if possible and rebalance the teams. Sorry, this sux, but the huge gaps in skill make good games tough without splitting squads or more players.
They could also make a game mode for single players or 3 squads versus each other. But alliances ruin that. (This is why we can't have nice things.)
Now to start shotgunning and REing again, everyone will love this play style. Face Palm!
