This thread was made to consolidate discussions and issues regarding AV vs dropships. Both AV and pilot ideas are welcome.
How are shield and armor regen? Shield and armor regen are fine, but dropships should also have a bit of passive armor repair. 30 HP/s for Gal and 10 HP/s for Cal seems fair.
[What interactions are balanced?] DS vs FG
[What interactions aren't?] DS vs swarms DS lightly tapping RDV still results in instant death (over 9k damage).
Swarms vs DS GÇó Basically no there's no escape from them: Gêÿ They have an initial speed of 50 m/s, a high max speed of 65.0 m/s which is 15m/s faster than an ADS, Gêÿ can follow targets long periods of time (9s), Gêÿ over insane ranges (somewhere over 500m), Gêÿ and only an afterburner on an assault dropship gives you a chance to escape.
GÇó They also directs DPS suitable for killing tanks at dropships that are less tanky and can barely escape.
For assault dropships, they can tank less but have increased agility and firepower, but because of the really high max speed of swarms, they don't benefit enough from their extra mobility.
Fixing the Swarm vs DS issues properly without messing with swarm vs HAV, involves having an anti-dropship swarm variant (assault) and have the base variant be less suitable against dropships.
Here are example stats that could accomplish that: Base swarm: GÇó Current damage GÇó 10 m/s less initial (40 m/s) and max speed (55 m/s) GÇó 1.5s less projectile life span (7.5s) which will make max travel distance around 370 m instead of 500+ m.
Assault swarm: GÇó 15% less damage GÇó Current speed GÇó 1s less projectile life span (8s) which will make max travel distance around 470 m instead of 500+ m.
Stats gathered from my own, other pilots experiences in Warlords, as well as this and that. |

The speed shouldn't be cut as much imo, as long as it's possible to out-maneuver swarms. Currently, they still follow you behind cover and the only way to avoid them is if you're already running when they're fired (or if they fire when you're already behind cover, though that's their fault).
If the tracking system was changed so they follow the dropship and not the path of the dropship, and make it so they lose the lock if they fly past the dropship (so it can't make 180 degree turns), then it would be more balanced.
Following the dropship and not the path would actually decrease the time it takes to reach the dropship slightly, because it would be "cutting the corners" rather than going the long way.
Redundant Usernames FTW Neigh!
Incubi RULE! Pythons suck.
