Ten months ago, during the 2014 Eve Fanfest, CCP Rouge almost killed Dust. Every Dust mercenary felt it was the end, the Apocalypse. But then, 11 days later CCP Rouge made a smart move:link, he presented CCP Rattati to us and put him in charge of Dust.
Here is the developer spotlight Snorri +Çrnason. Were you wondering why he loves datas and numbers so much?
"I have a MasterGÇÿs degree in Industrial Engineering with a focus on Applied Statistics." This guy knows what he is doing when he uses numbers!
Now, after the 'Rouge weddings' we were told we wouldnt have had any new patch for Dust. A lot of players started biomassing or leaving the game, a lot of corporations were disbanded.
Then CCP Rattati made his move...
Since that may, after 10 months, we have had:
- 5 Hotfixes
- 3 new patches
- 2 Events
- 1 Trelloboard
- a plan
- Thousands of posts from CCP Rattati on the forum (1000 since 31-10-2013)
What was added/modified?
Hotfix Alpha:
Armor tanking was modified to decrease brick tanking , Scout bonuses were modified , Cloak was nerfed, CR nerfed and AR buffed, projectiles slowdown effect was removed, PC passive isk farming was removed, Bolt and Ion pistols Fixed, PLC and AV nades buffed.
Hotfix Bravo:
Work to improve NPE, Work on HAV turrets, work on Rifles ranges between tiers, removed vehicles from Ambush, shield tanking got buffed.
Hotfix Charlie:
Buff to Assaults, sentinels pg/cpu got nerfed, HMG changes, FW Payments increase, changes to blaster turrets, scouts ewar, some modules and OBs, buff to NK, more hp for installations, Vehicle recall Timer increased.
Hotfix Delta:
NPE, great work on sidearms, rifles, snipers, FGs and swarm launchers, buff to shield tanking, NK optimization skill, nanite Injector repair shields, buff to minmatars Ehp, buff to ADS and changes to some modules.
Uprising 1.9:
New maps, new sockets, new map's moods, Loyalty Ranks, market agent and sell to vendor, buyable respec, changes to sp gainer per wp, Fix of annoying bugs, changes to cloak and scans, changes to nanite injectors.
The introduction of the Apex Series.
Uprising 1.10:
Daily missions, strongboxes and Keys, new OBs, changes to passive scan, bandwith and other great changes to the gameplay.
Warlord 1.0
Warbarge,new quafe, Faction and officer gear, changes to User experience.
Hotfix Echo:
Changes to starter loadouts and Basic medium frames, changes to hmg, PLC and ASCR, complete rework of HAV, changes to LAV, myofibril stimulants, equipment changes.
TLDR: look at what CCP Rattati has done in 10 months! After we were told the development of Dust wasnt going on.
CCP Rattati has done and is doing miracles with what he has. Sometime we dont agree with him but we have to appreciate his work and the great communocation he has with us.
CCP Rattati is the best thing that happened to Dust.

All things said and done, I am just happy that this crazy little gem of a game called DUST 514 is still around :)

Don't separate the two though. Rouge and Rattati are essentially the same entity; CCP.
Both Rouge and Rattati have made very simple mistakes that look extremely bad. Rouge didn't realize the roundtable was not going to be streamed, which is why the DUST 514 keynote was 26 minutes long and ended with "we can continue this discussion at the roundtable." To everyone there, they heard the "we are going to transfer SP and everything applicable." To those that bought an HD steam (*waves*), we sat there being happy that DUST might actually be something on a different medium but than were wondering "WHAT ABOUT MY STUFF?!"
Rattati thought that boosters only increased the rate at which you got SP. They were going to allow Triple Stack and he figured "let's triple the cap so it levels out." Everyone in the CPM thought he was fine with going from 761,600 or 1,142,400 with a 50% booster to 3,000,000 or 7,500,000 million with 3 boosters a month. This was not intended and created quite the interesting bit when the guy running DUST doesn't know how the most basic of basic things worked.
Is Rattati doing a nice job? I think so; he certainly is active on Twitter and the forums. But to put all of the success on him when it was the entire entity of CCP doing it and completely separate the failures that CCP has had is a bit off in my book.

Sometimes I wholeheartedly disagree with Rattati's changes. That said, of all the things that have happened to this game, he is by far the best.

The Game is still around, and is receiving updates.
All I could ever ask for. I've put a lot of money into this game to support it, I would be very angry if they stopped before they actually had the "Finished Project"

Agreed - good work to the whole Dust crew. o7
It was and is a tough situation but Dust is in a better place now than it was. Rattati & crew were the first team who addressed some of my core concerns for the game.Though i don't always agree with our direction, Rattati's passion for Dust makes it easier to cut the devteam some slack.
Rouge deserves credit also - he's the guy who made the call on Rattati and devteam resources for DUST and although we don't see much of him he is for sure a part of what we have today in Dust. My hope for Rouge is that he delivers to us core mechanics as solid as Mirror's Edge and is focusing on quality before monetization.

I love to see how many players agree with me, I also know there are many more players that like what Rattati has done and is doing, I hope more will show their appreciation here. I also hope Rattati will see this, I hope I'll see how much we appreciate his job, even if sometime we are too stupid to show it

I honestly was ready to biomass my character and move on until the changes that CCP Rat spearheaded. I say he saved this game. Will it last, maybe but not with out more people playing. I myself have moved on for the moment as I'm bored. I be back though, I always am.

I can't agree. There is a Big difference between their mistakes, Rouge communicate to us all, during the DUST Keynote:"Hey guys, forget Dust and buy a PC. Are you console gamers? Who cares! ". While Rattati did a small mistake about SPs and boosters, a mistake that had not great consequences and that he Fixed asap and apologized for.

Don't even compare this to the masterpiece that is MAG.
MAG had problems but lets be honest here, it worked and it worked well for what it was.
RBS was the worst mistake Zipper ever did, you can argue map imbalance was another but in comparision to some of the mistakes CCP have done CCP has Zipper beat.

You can add me to that list since vehicles have been ruined since he turned up and it is not getting any better either with the nerf and buff cycle based off of numbers from lolpubs. That is the main problem for me but there is many more in general.
But really it is not going to make sense for people who don't like him to really drop in on this circle jerk of a thread, likewise no one is really going to make a 'i hate you rattati' thread since it will get deleted and the OP banned.

Nothing changed except CCP got bought out by an investment firm.
During this time.. Most of the old guard at CCP quit... They are left with 1 original member now and Hilmar...
DUST makes money... Always has.... Investment firms will not kill a project if it is making money... Unless it directly damages the brand... Which it was way to little to late for that.
CCP has a harder time justifying the cost and RISK to develop Legion... then they do to keep the lights on in DUST.. to the point where the owners of CCP, "OK'd" a small team development budget for DUST.. To see if the revenue stream can be sustained.
I'd imagine Rouge is having a hard time right now... Even interviews that he is scheduled for, before the main administration take over where cancelled.. Pretty much showing us CCP has changed... They used to hype and sell concepts for their products sometimes years before they where ready...
CCP the passionate development company, Where a handful of passionate developers built a board game in Iceland to fund developing a Space sim MMO and change the genre forever.. is gone... 99% of that CCP quit... And we are now left with a CCP that is owned in majority by the biggest investment firm in Iceland. |

The dude managed to plug a hole and stop the ship from sinking, i just wish I could still play and enjoy the changed. Though I would likely suck balls these days I am truly greatful he at least kept my dream game alive and hopefully I can play it again at some point

So glad we still have Dust514, which isn't something I would have predicted at all a year ago, especially after Rouge tried to single-handedly destroyed it, with his arrogant, worthless, beyond stupid, Fanfest antics.
Hell, I was livid, and I'm one of the most chill, even tempered people on the planet. I still get mad, when I think about the people that paid money to watch it, or worse yet, went.
I'm still not sure why the guy is still the Executive producer for the Shanghai crew when it's obvious who actually has passion for the game. Rouge strikes me as someone that is there in the same capacity as a doorstop. Sure he probably thinks he's necessary to keep the doors open, but he could easily be replaced with a brick.
Ratatti has my full support. You can tell the guy has his head in the game and his heart in the right place. All the heat was gone in this fire and he stoked that one tiny ember and now a fire is burning once more. Now, we talk about what we're going to see in the future. We speak of the future. A future that wasn't even a possibility to most of us last year. You know as this fire grows, it'll get some version of a port, and we can thank Ratatti for that.

AND it also looks like he was capable of making the game profitable. No only he loves the game but he knows what he's doing and he knows how to do his job very well!
One of the few assaults you'll find in a PC match!
