This is a guide I wrote with the hopes of not confusing new players with slang used by the initiated. It even includes common slang terms for each piece of equipment so nobody has to wonder what "pick stick" means. So, without further ado I present "Sneaky's Newbro Guide To Having A 0.17 K/D"
-RACE BONUSES: Each race of Logistics Dropsuit (Logi) recieves a bonus to certain things. You can increase these bonuses by further increasing the skill for that race of Logi. Here is a list of these bonuses by race.
Amar- 10% reduction to drop uplink spawn time and +2 to max spawn count per level. When the skill is maxed out at 5 you have a total of 50% reduction to drop uplink spawn time and +10 to total spawns per uplink. This will get your teammates on the field faster and keep you from having to place more uplinks.
Caldari- +10% to nanohive max nanites and +5% to supply rate and repair amount per level. When the skill is maxed out at 5 you have a total +50% max nanites and +25% supply and repair rate. This helps keep your nanohives out longer and work faster.
Gallente- +10% to active scanner visibility duration and +5% to active scanner precision per level. When the skill is maxed out at 5 you have a total +50% scan duration and +25% scan precision. This bonus will help you scan more players (you can scan those pesky scouts with better scan precision) and make them visible for longer.
Minmatar- +10% to repair tool range and +5% to repair amount per level. When the skill is maxed out at 5 you have a total of +50% range and +25% repair amount. Which is a major increase to your effectiveness as a repair tool Logi.
-DROPSUIT FITTING: How you set up your dropsuit is entirely up to you but some things are more important than others. Weapons and grenades are completely your choice but you don't want to stack armor plates onto a logi, this will make you slower and you want to be able to walk while using your rep tool as fast as your heavy can run. Putting on armor plates and a kinetic catalyzer will not counteract the effect of the armor plates because kin-cats only effect sprint speed. Your better option would be to use armor repairers or reactive plates, You're likely to take several bullets as a logi and being able to recover from the bullets faster is a better idea than being able to take 1 or 2 more. Always make sure to put your repair tool in the first or last equipment slot, this makes it easy to pull out without messing up and pulling out that nanite injector you have no use for. Using shield extenders is a good idea but throwing on a couple myofibril stimulants is another option. They have a new feature that allows you to jump higher, this can be extremely useful for dodging bullets when you and your heavy are getting shot at. It also gives you a backup for those horrifying moments when you need to reload, have no secondary and someone's shooting at you, you can just punch them for 200-400 damage.
-SKILLS: Here's a list of skills you should focus on as a logi,
Dropsuit Armor Upgrades [very important] Dropsuit Shield Upgrades [very important] Dropsuit Core Upgrades [lvl 2 suggested] Dropsuit Electronics [fairly important] Dropsuit Engineering [important] Repair Tool Operation [lvl 5 suggested] Nanocircuitry [lvl 1 minimum] Drop Uplink Deployment [lvl 3 minimum] Dropsuit Biotics Upgrades [fairly important] Explosives [lvl 1 minimum] Grenadier [lvl 1 minimum] Light Weapon Operation [lvl depends on which weapon you intend to use. lvl 1 for assault, combat, rail and scrambler rifles.]
-WEAPON CHOICE: Weapon choice is entirely up to you, As a Logi you only get one weapon so make sure it's the one you're most comfortable with. Some weapons aren't viable for logi's though. Weapons like Swarm Launchers, Laser Rifles, Sniper Rifles, Plasma Cannons and sidearms are generally bad choices for a logi, you want something you can fight up close and far away with and that you are comfortable using. Combat rifles and Assault rifles are good choices. You won't use your weapon too often as a logi so make sure it's one that'll get the job done. I would suggest shying away from weapons with charge up times.
-GRENADES: Which type of grenade you carry is entirely up to you but I would advise against Anti-Vehicle grenades, Flux grenades damage shields and Locus grenades damage armor and shields but for a lesser amount. The type of grenade you choose can effect your play style when you are working with a heavy (which you should almost always be doing as a logi). Flux grenades are useful for throwing into a room or area to remove the enemies shields before your heavy comes in to hopefully terminate all of them. The bonuses to flux grenades are that almost no dropsuit has the ability to keep its shields when hit with even a basic flux grenade(a prototype caldari heavy might possibly have enough to keep it's shields but wont have much left) and they have a much larger blast radius that Locus grenades. Locus grenades damage shield and armor and can be extremely deadly to light and medium dropsuits. They suffer from having a small blast radius but do have the ability to kill any weak dropsuit that gets caught within that radius. Both can be extremely effective for clearing out confined spaces. Anti-vehicle grenades are completely useless for anything but vehicles. They wont even go off if a vehicle isnt near them. (PRO TIP: You can re-pocket your cooked grenade by tapping R2, Holding R2 will just throw the grenade and open up your weapon wheel so make sure you just tap it.)

-REPAIR TOOL: This is really the cream of the crop when it comes to Logi equipment and war point whoring. It's basically a beam of health that you lock on to a teammate/vehicle/installation with to repair its armor, sadly, you can't repair shields. Any non-specialized Logi(some logi's are built to only run uplinks into an area or only throw out nanohives but those are more advanced roles used for things like Planetary Conquest matches.) should be carrying one of these. You aren't any good to a heavy without one of these and you're not very good without a high quality one of these. As a logi you will want to get your repair tool skill to level 5 AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Getting your repair tool skill to level 5 will allow you to use prototype repair tools which have increased repair rates and can even heal two people at one time(depending on the model you choose). Most logi's choose to use the Six Kin Triage Repair Tool. It repairs at 88hp per second, locks on to 2 targets and has a max range of 15 meters. This gives you the most total output of health with a fairly long range (being a minmatar logi can increase the range and the repair rate). You can find an more information about how to properly use the repair and work with a heavy in the Repair Tool Tips section at the bottom. You recieve +25 points per repair amount (this can add up to a ridiculous amount of points very fast.)
-DROP UPLINKS: These are little pads you throw down that a certain number of teammates can spawn on. The better the uplink, the less teammates have to spawn. It's important to skill into this until you have at least advanced uplinks (R9 drop uplinks [20% spawn time modifier] are seen as the standard. I suggest not using uplinks until you can at least be placing these. Placing basic uplinks can get people annoyed with you. However if you don't have R9's available yet you can simply play an ambush match. All uplinks are 3 to 5 seconds in ambush. An EXTREMELY IMPORTANT part of placing drop uplinks is to realize that they are in fact directional. Meaning that whatever way you are looking when you throw it down is the way people will be looking when they spawn in. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES PLACE AN UPLINK FACING A WALL OR CORNER! THIS GETS TEAMMATES KILLED AND WILL ANNOY THE LIVING CRAP OUT OF PEOPLE! Proper uplink placement for corners and walls is to put your back into the corner so that you are facing outward and look down then throw the uplink, the same goes for a wall. Be sure to place uplinks inside any objective or building that your team intends on holding down. Placing uplinks in close proximity to the middle of the map when you first spawn is important for helping players that use heavy dropsuits get to the fight faster. It's quicker for them to wait 8 seconds for an uplink 30 meters from an objective than it is to walk all the way from the MCC(big ship in the air) to the objective. You recieve +25 points per spawn. [Slang terms: uplinks, links, droppads]
-NANITE INJECTORS: These are used to revive fallen teammates, teammates are only revivable under certain circumstances and there is a time limit on how long they are revivable. Any teammate killed by explosives, roadkill or headshot is immediately terminated and cannot be revived, enemies killed by other means are revivable so long as they recieve no extra damage after death and haven't bleed out yet. You will see a little symbol of a syrienge above a fallen teammate, you simply walk ove to him and press "o" to revive him. You do not need to pull out this piece of equipment to use it. Better Nanite Injectors revive the teammate with more armor (if you are carrying one of these I suggest you carry a repair tool also so that you can revive them and immediately start repairing them to get them fight ready again) These can help keep the clone count from depleting and are a warm welcome on the battlefield to players not wanting to lose expensive suits. You recieve +30 points per revive. [Slang terms: needle, dirty needle, rez, pick-up, pick stick]
-NANOHIVES: Nanohives are little boxes you throw down that create a sphere, teammates can walk within this sphere to recieve ammo or have their armor repaired. There are 3 types of nanohives. Ammo hives and repping hives and hybrid hives. Ammo hives only replenish ammo. Repping hives on repair armor. And hybrid hives do both but not as well as the other two hives do. Throwing these down at objectives keep the fight going, Placing one near a doorway to an objective allows your teammates to spam grenades into the building to clear the enemies out (NOTE: This is a **** move) Or if you are the ones in the building you can place them down to do the same thing and keep any teammates from running out of ammo in a sticky situation. Repping hives are also very effective at keeping teammates alive inside of chokepoints and buildings. Although you as a Logi might spend your entire DUST life never finding a need for one of these there are plenty of players out there who will live long enough to need more ammo. And you can be there to save the day and grab a few easy points. You recieve +10 points per ammo resupply and +25 points per repair amount. [Slang terms: nanos, hives, rep hives, ammo]

-ACTIVE SCANNERS: These are basically a handheld UAV from the Call of Duty series (this isn't the best description, they are actually extremely different but for the sake of keeping things simple that's the best way to describe them) Scanners allow you to scan in a cone shape revealing any enemies within that cone for a certain distance. Some scanners have wider cones or longer distances and some have a better scan precision. Your scan profile determines whether or not you can be scanned by someone. Scan precision determines whether or not you can scan them. The lower the numbers, the better. When you scan the detectable enemies will be displayed on the minimap and you will be able to see a chevron displaying their location through walls and other objects. They remain visible for a certain amount of time depending on the scanner used and your scanner skill. After using your scanner you must wait a certain amount of time to scan again. You recieve +15 Intel Assist points for every enemy scanned by you that gets killed. [Slang terms: scanner, scans]
-REMOTE EXPLOSIVES: For the Logi who wants to have his cake and eat it too you can equip Remote Explosives. Remote Explosives are just little packets of space C4 that stick to whatever you throw them on and then are set off later. These are best used for placing around an objective and waiting. You place a couple near a hacked terminal and wait for the letter to start blinking then simply set them off killing whoever is hacking it. You can also throw these into a room or building filled with enemies protecting an objective and set them off then push your way in with your heavy, having him finish off anything left alive. (NOTE: This is a piece of equipment better suited for a Scout than a Logi but it can help get you those kills you miss out on by playing the support role.) [Slang terms: RE]
-VEHICLES: As a Logi vehicles are not your top priority, taking them out isn't your concern and using them isn't either. But LAV's(Light Assault Vehicle basically it's a jeep with a turret on the back) can be helpful when you are working with a heavy in your squad. You or your heavy can call in an LAV to help get your fat slow heavy to an objective faster. I suggest the logi drive as he is the more fragile one and if you come across an enemy the heavy can hop out and fight the enemy while you try to roadkill him (NOTE: This is a **** move.) and then make a quick getaway. Don't worry about getting expensive LAV's. You're most likely going to ditch it as soon as you get to the objective anyway. (NOTE: Objectives with chokepoint hallways can be blocked off by driving your LAV into the hallway or corridor and leaving it there making it a hassle for enemy infantry to get over or around. Just don't stand near it because it can blow up and kill you)
-REPAIR TOOL TIPS: First things first. Don't break the stream. If the heavy walks around a pillar you walk the same way around it that he did, If he turns a corner turn the corner as wide as you can so the corner doesn't break the stream (NOTE: make sure to remind your heavy to make wide turns with you so it's easier to keep the stream.) If your heavy gets into a gunfight that's within his range do your best to resist the urge to pull out your weapon. He needs the reps more than you need to steal his kills. If he gets into a gunfight that's outside of his range be sure to pull out your weapon to help kill the enemy but only after the both of you have made it to some cover. If your heavy is at full health and you dont foresee a gunfight in the near future you can take the time to repair other teammates (NOTE: Caldari Suits and Scouts aren't worth repping from a war point perspective, they have almost no armor but if you have the time you can rep them. Just don't expect many points.) You don't want a heavy who is gung ho and rushes into a room when he could simply stand at the door and safely take out the enemies. This is the difference between needing a nanite injector and not needing one. If you know you are working with a heavy who likes to rush into rooms and hope to kill everything...bring a nanite injector, If you know you're working with a heavy who likes to play it safe and save his suits, you're better off carrying uplinks or a scanner. Always carry nanohives when working with a heavy, the last thing a heavy needs to do is run out of ammo. A little tip, if you're too lazy to hold R1 all day for free points you can hit select while holding R1 then letting go of R1 and hitting select again. The rep tool will continue to act like you're holding R1 until you switch weapons, throw a grenade or hit R1 again.
