Hmgs are officially pointless, min sentinel is a larger assault that struggles to kill. I saw it as a flanking suit bit the time ttk is so poor that the only thing safe to engage is militia or scouts if you flank something beefy you'll overheat, if you verse anything shield stacked? You'll overheat... You can't assume all bullets hit when all vets k.ow it's strafe or now.. Jump game.. It's got so bad for heavys that I think I'll have to light weapons now

I don't think it is to bad, but I have noticed that I do overheat now after engaging one Dancing mk.0 or ck.0 and fighting other heavies is just a bit silly. It was only a 11% damage nerf too.
Maybe an 11% heat build up reduction is needed |

Been a sentinel for two years and I'll tell you this right now, if you were using it as an 'I Win' Button then you can leave your sentinel badge at the door.
I only went negative once today with all the new changes and that was because I was f*cling around in a minass suit with stacked myofibs.
Sentinels are in a bad spot however Rattati has helped us with this lastest hotfix. Our range has been increased and us AssHMG users now have decent DPS. Sure we are still slow and have giant hitboxes still but if you can't go positive in a skirmish or FW then you are doing it wrong.
BTW Gallente Proto Sentinel if you are wondering.

I said this before, I'll say it again. the HMG heat nerfs only made the amarr sentinel more powerful over the others, I haven't played with my sentinel enough recently but I can only imagine that the dps nerf has done the same. The amarr sentinel requires the longest time of bullet hits to take down compared to the other sentinels and the heat and dps nerfs made this window even tighter. I do agree that the dps and range nerf were needed as the HMG was OP against every other (dropsuit) role in the game but it terms of heavy vs heavy amarr is king. The PC data shows that it is the amarr sentinel + HMG combo that is OP, iirc the gal scout and min assault are higher on the list - above the cal and min sentinel. Heat reduction buff is necessary. |

Min sentinel with a sixkin was ridiculously low on the kill board yet here I am because my suit got.nerfed. Amar sentinel and gal sentinel with the bonus and HP they get is why heavies are op :)

The HMG needs to be designed, function and balanced out as an actual machine gun which requires skill to aim.
Not some mutant cartoon gun that has same dispersion and range as Jack Sparrows blunderbuss, like it is now.

HMG still trashes any other suit in the game, but Killing a Tanked suit then engaging another Tanked Suit is impossible. You will over heat, unless both targets just stand there and let you shoot them.
I wish CCP would tells us they want the HMG and Sents to be. |

The HMG used to be great at range, but of course people cried, we will never ever have the Accurate, Ranged HMG back. People cried to hard and the HMG is forever stuck as a Shotgun with better range. |

i think a racial bonus needs to be added for sentinels, not just shield/armor resistance bonuses

It looks like amar stacked is the way Np Jade, we are just talking. To both of you, I knew this was going to be the answer. I know the Amarr Sentinel is OP. I admit I specced into it because of it, because it is OP and ez mode. I was butthurt about amsent destroying me and I skilled it. Anyway it s not my main role and I rarely use it, I used it yesterday cause I like this ahmg.
BUT the fact is this: you, jade, made a thread about sentinels being UP, hmgs being useless... while these are not your points.
We know the amsent is OP, I think cal and gal Sent are fine and minsent is UP. And THIS is your real point.
So this thread should have been different, it should have been something like:
Minsent is UP because of this this and this, numbers numbers numbers.
Amsent is OP because.... Blablabla
Minsent needs this this this.
Am I correct? I dont think the hmg is UP, really.

Well the lsat is a LMG and that would be a step in the right direction, but I was thinking more of an actual heavy machine gun. An anti material gun as the 50. cal HMG in comparison.
There are other PVP games balancing out heavy weaponry which are usually long ranged and does it brilliantly. The HMG user could for example be grounded like with breach forge gun or have really low turn speed/tracking aim when firing. I just think the current HMG design sucks and sentinels shouldnt be confined to cqc.
Makes no sense that a big cumbersome weapon like the HMG should be dragged around as an CQC weapon. It has to be either OP killing machine or borderline useless bullet sponge in that idea.
HMG heavies are the chodes of dust. .

Currently this is how it looks
Amar sentinel - best resistance for armour against Hmgs, with this the sentinel also stacks a potential 1300 armour and 500 plus shield. Now given this the best weapon would be the boundless hmg. On top remember armour is a logis best friend so 90% of the time amar sentinel stack will have at least one logi. So this heavy has resistances to hmg on both sides. Also fully stacked can take an advanced re
Gal sentinel- great potential for all types can master over 600 shield with 1200 armour. Once again has a resistance to hmg on both sides but harder to take down with the shield. However many run two dmg mods which means 9% dmg buff to hmg with about 500 shield And 1200 armour once again more designed for constant fire which fits boundless.
Cal sentinel- shield resistance is against ar and scr but with ttk on shield weapons so high resistance is hard to see therefore many use basic frames. Anyhow a shield that can reach just over 900, and and standard armour of 600 Ish however armour stacking a caldari is unwise due to how easy it is to remove a caldari armour after the shields (which it should be) What the issue is a caldari does not rely on a logi it's, it's own logi therefore recovery needs to be consider and also damage? So bring that to account possibly to shields a dmg and energizer and still that is only 300 extra than the amar which is a armour suit just so you can think of recovery and dmg. This time it's mixed I preferred the six kin. But if I recall mex used boundless and was just as effective.
Min sentinel - what me and val called when it first came out a heavy assault, the resistance is the same as the cal however total HP on a min Sent is 700 Ish so less then call so the resistance is poorer. Once again now resistance to armour and also not viable to armour stack. With pg and CPU shield stacking is costly. The way I run my min is a glass cannon 3 dmg and 2 kin with a sixkin and advanced flux (to kill mex easier) this suit is not designed to one vs one an amar sentinel at your same skill level. You flank with it.
Now with the nerf hmg ttk has increased meaning armour stacking is more viable in the heavy world. So in a situation like this Amars will now run logis. So as min I would flank take out the logi and sting the amar and retreat. Then come back and finish the job. Now just killing a logi is a challenge and the ttk is not fast enough.and the amar can.now react to me.
If you want to nerf heavies you need to stop looking at gun and look at the suit. If it was the hmg why isnt the top 4 in PC different heavies with Hmgs? Just the amar up top. Shields are to much, armour is way to much with that resistance on top. That's why you see so much re spam. The boundless was going to remain good as it's no skill and you just hold until you go to over heat the six kin took more skill. Now the dmg nerf and range, has turned the sixkin into a weapon that yes it can kill but engaging anything stacked is not viable at all.

To start, I have fought most of you in my heavy suit. I can count on one hand the number of times I have not been out numbered by heavies and I usually come out on top or so dang close, my logi would gun down the last heavy standing and needle me up.
The key is to go for head shots! I aim for the neck like I do with the shotgun and let the gun carry me up to the head shot when it bounces. There is no consistency with dispersion like in COD which was very prescriptive with the recoil pattern.
Also, Amarr heavy is better and worse, I run it because I plate that thing down, but I feel so slow, I am stationary for most of the fighting. First PC with jumping tonight. My Cal heavy is my favorite because repping through damage is not a good strategy IMO. I prefer to duck back, let the shields spawn up in 3 seconds, get that reload in, and come at the enemy back at full EHP. But PC demands Amarr for the brick, so brick it is. There is skill in the Amarr, you guys need to counter it at it's weak spots, it can't move, so REs and jumping will really impact the Amarr going forward.
You better be ready to swap scouts out of the air in the city. Also the communication facility spreads out the city.

Ive been dedicated heavy for about a year I used the freedom hmg, then they need it so I used the sixkin I don't like the standard as I always stated it had to much range. I also go positive in skirmish and doms even ambushs but now? The sixkin is in a really bad spot people hated it after they nerfed it when it was broke. I loved it. I play heavy 90% of the time always played the role kill him infant before you die if you die after? Yous till killed someone. I have gone toe to toe with some of the the best heavies in the game. And I have spoken to a few and we all agree min sentinel has been hit hard by this. I play to win not my KDR butmy suit does not fit the role it use to which was heavy assault. You fail as a SENTINEL if you were using it as a heavy assault. Sentinels are point defense. Hell its even in the name. You fail at not understanding the min sentinel
Actually I do understand it quite well. It has enoughs highs and lows to either hybrid tank or shield tank with kin kats or armour tank with stacked damage mods. It is also the fastest of the sentinels.
However their role on the field is not heavy assault. That is what commandos are meant to be. Their role is to defend the objective by moving within the area as opposed to Amarr Sentinels (which is the stand and deliver suit).
I find your lack of heaviness... disturbing...

I'm having no problems with Heavies, I had some of my best games yet earlier today with a corp mate logibroing for me. In proper heavy environments, jumping won't save a target anyways, such as indoors. I use a Gal Sent though, so YMMV.

Actually I feel likes heavies are in a good spot right now, they're not an insta win suit anymore. They kill fine and take a lot of DMG still, but they have more counters than just re's which is nice.

What if the HMGs get fitted with bipods? When mounted (crouch) they become dead accurate. Downside being HMGers can't move when crouched. In my headcanon, all Minmatar weapons are modified versions of jury-rigged civilian weapons: The HMG originates from a mounted machine gun so really this seems appropriate and obvious.
But nah, I think this would make sentinels OP. You've already got the glorious Laser Rifle for long range.
Horrifying? That's a strange way to spell "romantic".

Hmm. I have zero issues using my min sent. It still wrecks pretty much everything fast. The burst is amazing at killing scouts and medium frames and the reg hmg still chews through other heavies. I just used the assault hmg last night and I killed a militia tank before overheating, which was AWESOME. (I fluxed it first)
I agree with you that min sent is a flanking heavy, which is how I use it. I have found when flanking you often get the jump on another heavy so flux it first or drop its shields with a Scr/Ion pistol before engaging with hmg. Cal sents melt like butter when you do this.
I think the main problem for you Jade is you run your heavy a lot. And heavies are not good in every situation. I only pull out the heavy in its optimal situation since I can use my assault and scout in the scenario where a big slow target is not the best choice.
Hmg heavies are still very strong in their domain. Outside of CQC they pretty much suck.
The only real truth in history is that it was bloody.
