I know that you need a key to open encrypted strongboxes, and that those cost aurum, but has any one figured out what CCP means by "...but crafty individuals may find there are other ways to crack it open." Is this just another ploy for money by CCP, or is there an actual alternate way to open them? Also, does anyone know of any semi-auto rifles in the game? I have not seen any.

Me and a couple of other guys stumbled on it completely by accident a while back.
Send me some ISK to make it worth my while and I'll pass on the secret.

Crafty way: buy the keys
Normal way: earn the keys
There is no secret so don't buy into people offering to reveal it to you for ISK.

Read CCP's description of the Encrypted Strongbox in your salvage:
"Crafty individuals may find that there are other ways to pry it open."
Other ways = not a key
Pry = not a key

I found out while testing jump heights with kincats on my Matari scout.
I will sell you the secret at 75% the cost of the guy above.
Here's a hint: You'll need a dropship and a mass driver.

AFAIK "Crafty individuals" is just referring to the use of hacked keys because we do not have access to the original matching key. |
