Alright, so as the conversation heats up about the 5MCC, I figured I would post a story of two vastly different Domination games I participated in during the event, and their effect on the count.
Alright, both took place on Boulder Rim, (train depot).
In the first game, both teams were fairly balanced. Each side had a heavy hitting squad shored up by random blues and lone wolves. Objective control traded back and forth, proto suits didn't guarantee any kind of longevity, and it went until we each had like 7 clones left and one guys MCC exploded minutes before the other one would have.
Result? Something like 285 clones destroyed, good pay all around, morale boost all around. Ran for about 18-20 minutes.
In a later game, same map, we were faced with a vastly better team who was determined to make sure our only option was to stay in the MCC. By the time the shields on our MCC had given up, so had most of the team. Those that werent wandering around our redline turret to turret quit, leaving a EOM screen full of holes. They were camping both of the hard-spawns out of the redline, and had tanks and snipers ready to nail anyone as soon as they got out of the MCC or called in a vehicle. They had something like 120 clones on their side, we had 80 left.
Result? 100 clones destroyed, low pay, ran for 12-15 minutes. Doubt any of the people that quit mid match were encouraged to try another match.
So when the game was balanced, almost 60% more clones were added to the Million Clone pile. Pay was encouraging enough to make you want to push next game, and there is nothing that makes you want the next game more than having just had a great game.
As for the bad game, well, I signed off after it. And, even though there is an extension, i barely feel like signing in to help. Whats the point? I can get stomped by douchebags any day of the week.
I mean, really think of the mentality at play here. We all know how the train depot map rolls out. If you control the inside of the garage and the roof area, you can let the other team keep attacking while you mount a defense. It destroys clones. You can win, get good scores, ect...all while holding the central position and allowing the enemy to regroup and push again from the outliers. To move your frontline to the enemies spawn line, and hold it that badly...it takes a special kind of depraved person I guess. |
